Be sure to test fit your rig before trip day. Had to increase the safety chain length with this new ball mount. Not a big deal, but glad I caught it early!

Because I chose shipment via USPS, the item arrived later than expected. However, customer service at etrailer has been very helpful in responding to my complaint about the late arrival and following up on the delivery, also with processing a return label should I decide to return the item.

etrailer is a great company and Curt makes great drawbars. The missing star is due to a confusing listing for this 4" rise drawbar. I already had a Curt Class I drawbar which is labeled as having a 3" rise. I needed a bit more lift when using my camper with my VW Golf, so I bought this Curt drawbar listed as having a 4" rise. It arrived and was IDENTICAL to my Curt drawbar with a 3" rise. Even the red label on the drawbar said 3". etrailer replied that it was because they measure the rise differently than Curt. So I returned it and received a refund (minus my return postage) and bought a Curt drawbar with a 5" rise, which was perfect. I measured the rise on all the drawbars and the one that etrailer advertises as having a 4" rise is closer to 3.6". But Curt labels it as having a 3". So this is confusing. Even though etrailer's measurements are probably more accurate, I think they should list it with the same rise that Curt puts on the drawbar to avoid others making the same mistake I did.

I did not realize that this ball mount doesn't come with a hitch pin. Maybe ad can be more clear on this aspect for future buyers. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

I ordered a similar drawbar with a 5" rise a few weeks ago, but found that my trailer seemed a tad too high with it. So I ordered this 4" alternative, and —as Goldilocks would say— it is "just right." I would recommend that customers who use etrailer's recommended calculations (measuring the difference between the inside top of the receiver opening to the bottom of the trailer's coupler when level) should then subtract 1" from the result. Why? Because the base of the ball raises the coupler 1" higher than the top of the drawbar. Other than that miscalculation, these drawbars are rock solid, top quality, more than adequate, reasonably priced.

Theres actually two reasons why we dont mention subtracting an addition inch. 1 The rear of the vehicle will sag by a certain amount generally an inch or so when the trailer is hitched up and 2 The trailer doesnt need to be exactly level. As long as youre within an inch or two, youll be just fine.

It's really noisy because the fit of the drawbar is really loose inside the receiver. Don't know if the drawbar or the receiver is at fault causing the noise. Other than the noise it works well.

Hi Newton, Thanks for your feedback! I would recommend using an anti-rattle device to keep the ball mount from moving around in the receiver. The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1.25 inch Trailer Hitches, part RM-061-125 , will work for your hitch.

The product was easy to install by watching an installation video on you tube. The product was shipped very quickly. I procrastinated, waiting until two days before my family was to leave on vacation. I noticed that a piece was missing while installing the hitch. The customer service went out of their way to insure that I received the required piece before we left on vacation by finding the closest warehouse to me, and having the piece shipped overnight. They saved me from having to cancel the family vacation and disappointing the family.
