Bearing Buddy installed diagram

Bearing Buddy Operation

Replace your existing grease cap with a Bearing Buddy to ensure a safe, easy way to monitor and control the level of grease in your axle hub. To adjust the amount of grease in the hub, use a grease gun to add more through the appropriate fitting. Adding grease moves the Bearing Buddy spring-loaded piston outward 1/8".

The O-ring inside the barrel of the Bearing Buddy maintains a seal from the outside. The interior of the Bearing Buddy is pressurized, preventing water from entering the barrel and diluting the grease.

An automatic pressure-relief feature is built into the Bearing Buddy. When the device is full, grease will seep around the edges of the piston and into the barrel. This prevents overfilling that can damage the inner seal.

You can manually check the grease level in your Bearing Buddy by pressing on the edge of the piston. If you can rock or move the piston, the hub is properly filled.

I've been using these for 5 years and have not had a bearing failure since. Before we had a average of 10 failures a year on our towable units. Bearings, spindles and lost use are a few of the problems eliminated.

My parts were exactly what I needed. 5 star. Thanks

I really like the bearing buddy but I am disappointed that one was lost under normal use. I didn't hit any remarkable potholes, curbs or any such thing. The sidewalls of the tires showed no abarsions. It was just gone. I ordered a replacement as the trailer is dunked in saltwater 7 to 12 times a year and the axles are otherwise not greasable. No other option. They save having to break down the axles every year. Just make sure they're filled and the saltwater just can't get in. Make sure you don't over do it with the grease. I've seen wheels covered with grease from over filling (not me but others who don't get it) Just watch videos and it all makes sense. Hope I don't lose any more. Too pricey

I lost another one, same axle, same side. It seems as tight as the other three but it was gone. Replaced again and threw some duct tape on it, so far so good. If you cant fix it with duct tape, it aint broke

E Trailer offered a very competitive price on the SS Bearing Buddy. The set arrived very fast, E Trailer kept track of the delivery and knew it was delivered before I did (they notified me it was in mail box). That's a sure sign off customer service if I should need it.

Thanks

Very pleased with the High Quality and quick reasonable shipping!
Bought them for my wood-splitter which travels many miles of very dusty dirt roads behind my SUV to and from Hunting / Snowmobile Camp to fill the woodshed for the long cold winter months.

by:

The bearing buddies arrived on time and packaged perfectly. Am taking them to New Zealand for my fishing boat trailer. It would have cost me 3x if purchased there.

by:

Look like good quality bearing protectors but still in the box. Time will tell and I will then rate them appropriately.

by:

All products sold and carried by etrailer.com that I have purchased have been high quality and shipped quickly. Great company to work with.

by:

  • Bearing Buddy Size for a 1.77" Hub Bore Diameter
For the correct size of Bearing Buddy you need, the diameter of the Bearing Buddy must match the hub bore diameter exactly. With that being said, the 1.781" Bearing Buddies # BB1781 (chrome plated) or # BB1781SS (stainless steel) are the closest ones we carry to your 1.77" measurement. • How Do I Determine Which Bearing Buddy Bearing Protector Will Fit My Aspen Motorcycle Trailer
The best way to make sure you receive the correct Bearing Buddy bearing protector is to measure the inner diameter of the hub bore (see photo). Unfortunately, the manufacturer of Aspen trailers does not provide much information about their trailers or replacement parts, so I was not able to obtain the OEM grease cap size that Aspen uses. I strongly recommend measuring the hub bore with a precise measuring tool such as a dial caliper because hub bores can vary down to the thousandths of...
