I just received the Custer Smart Light from etrailer yesterday. Charged the light bar for a few hours as recommended then mounted it to the roof of my SUV and plugged the transmitter into my motorhome. The light bar works as advertised. Time will tell if this item holds up to about 8K miles of towing per year. If all is well after a years use I give it 5 stars.

I use the light bar on my SUV towed behind my RV. The towed vehicle is a $50k SUV so I was not excited about tapping into the wiring, or drilling holes in the taillight for an extra incandescent light in a well designed LED setup. I just have two comments. One make sure you zip tie the transmitter. If you are driving on 95 in the Northeast it will vibrate out. I am glad I thought of it or I would have been very unhappy. Second, you can not tell if the light runs out of juice. If it was not for irate truckers honking I would not have known. Be ready with a backup power supply in case your driving day includes a 3 hour delay due to accidents. Otherwise it has clung well, worked great and is very bright. I would recommend this product for any tower’s

This is the best way I've had lights on the dinghy. I've been towing for 30 years. It's great not to have to get into the vehicle wiring.

  • How to Charge Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL
The Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL does have a rechargeable battery and the only way to charge it is by plugging in the included 12V DC/cigarette style adapter charger. It will still function like normal when it's actually plugged in and charging, but you will want to make sure that the 12V outlet in your towed vehicle still gets power when the vehicle is turned off for flat towing. I have attached a short video review on this tow bar light that you can also check out.

  • Recommended Parts to Dinghy Tow a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic LT Sedan
I have the perfect setup to dinghy tow your 2017 Chevrolet Sonic LT. For a tow bar I recommend using the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX1703. This kit does not require any welding and has base plate tabs that can be removed for a very clean look when you are not towing your Sonic. The next thing that you will need is a tow bar. I really like the Blue Ox Alpha, part # BX7380, for this setup because it works well with the base plate kit and it comes with safety cables. This tow bar it...

  • Wiring Options for Flat Towing 2012 Honda CR-V
You're fortunate that the 2012 CR-V has some good options available for wiring. I prefer an option that doesn't require the vehicle wiring to be cut into. Custer offers a wireless magnetic mount tow lamp, part # LIW-LDTL. Installation couldn't be simpler. Plug the transmitter into the 7-way on the RV, and place the lights where they're wanted on the vehicle. The wireless feature means there's no wires flapping in the breeze as you're driving down the road. The tow bar lighting would remain...

You'll need: -Safety cables like part # RM-643. -A wiring solution so the taillights work along with the RV, like the wireless magnetic tow lights from Custer, part # LIW-LDTL. -A supplemental braking system like the SMI Stay-In-Play DUO, part # SM99251 I'll link you to some of our help articles that contain much more information about...

Or, # LIW-LDTL for a 4-pin round plug depending on your needs. This is a weatherproof, rechargeable battery design with LED's that provides stop, tail, side marker, and turn functions. • Installing Roadmaster 6-Diode Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles on 2014 Ford Taurus
Because wiring colors aren't always consistent even among models produced during the same model year, we always recommend wiring by function, not by wiring color. You can use a voltmeter or a simple circuit tester like part # PTW2992. There should be close to 12 volts being delivered to the taillights. Activate the left turn signal and probe the wires until you find the circuit that makes the tester blink along with the turn signal. Do the same for the right turn, the brake light and the...

  • Equipment Needed to Flat Tow a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
All of the equipment that you will need to properly flat tow/dinghy tow your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be base plates, a tow bar, tow bar wiring for working lights, safety cables, and most states now require a supplemental braking system be installed on any vehicle that is being towed. It is very easy to maneuver and it comes with the safety cables for added security when driving down the road. Next you will want your base plates. If your 1995 Nissan Altima has the factory installed driving lights in the front bumper, Roadmaster states that the # 310-3 is not a fit. It MIGHT be possible to remove the OEM driving light assemblies so the base plates will fit, but this has not been tested, so we cannot say with any certainty that it would work. The 4-way round connector is very rare and the 6-way round is somewhat common but more rare than 4-way flats and 7-ways so what that means is that we don't have an adapter for your configuration but I have a similar solution. We have a version of the Custer Wireless Tow Bar Light that uses a 7-way blade with the part # LIW-LDTL-7B which we do have adapters for like with the # 337TC1067P which plugs into your 6-way and converts to same connector as the tow bar.
