Magnetic Versus Wired Magnetic Towing Lights For Long Road Trips

Question:

Hello, Im interested in the Custer or similar towing light bar in the 24 size that has a magnetic base and is wired due to the distances we drive or RV. I think I need the wired function because I run with the lights on during the day and we tag team drive thus I dont think 6-8 hours of wireless run time will work for us. However, Im reaching out to you for an expert opinion. Thanks

If you were to go with the either the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light 4-Way # LIW-LDTL or 7-Way # LIW-LDTL-7B I recommend getting 2 of these. That will allow you to have one in the cab charging while using the other one. As they have an expected battery life of 6-8hours per charge this will allow you to switch them out as you stop for gas or food.

Otherwise the Magnetic LED Tow Light Kit # TLL21RK will provide you with 20' of wiring to use hard wired lights. These lights uses LED's so you will not have to worry about bulbs burning out.

Depending on the vehicles you tow you might need the Magnetic Tow Light Partners # TLP01. These have metal plates inside which you can hold in place on a door, trunk or tailgate. This is needed on certain vehicles which use aluminum or composite body panels instead of steel for the magnetic lights to stay in place.
