To be able to use the SkyRise on your vehicle, both your roof and your aftermarket roof rack must have a minimum load capacity of 165 lbs. This weight capacity, also known as dynamic weight capacity, is the maximum weight your roof and roof rack can safely support while the vehicle is in motion. If your setup meets these requirements, then you should be able to safely hold the tent and occupants when your vehicle is stationary. The stationary capacity, or static weight capacity, won't be listed in your vehicle's manual or your roof rack's installation instructions. Instead, it is determined by the 165 lbs minimum load carrying capacity explained above.

Tent: I research way too much prior to purchasing, but I rarely go wrong. This tent is a beast. You can fit two average adults and a kid or gear easily. Rain fly is solid, not gonna rip and the gussets are reinforced with some kind of rubberized material. You can seriously throw anything at this. It’s pretty compact, I think I measured 14 inches. 120 pounds is no joke. I lifted once with a friend and that’s the last time. Bought a hoist and mounted it in my garage attic so the cable just comes down from ceiling. I’ll store it hanging from the ceiling. I have some back issues so I need a firm mattress. I was skeptical about the mattress before it arrived. I was assuming I would be using my microcell backpacking pad in addition, but there is no need. I was stoked when I first laid on it. It’s turn-key ready to go for all four seasons. Note even gonna talk about windows, there are a ton of em. The zipper and mesh material is top notch. Rubberized cover was heeeeeelllaa easy to put on and the beefy Velcro around the bottom seals the entire tent inside. Mounting system was one of the main reasons why I got it. Easy and secure. One downfall is the how far apart the bottom mounts are from each other. They’re pretty close together. I’m running it on my truck bed with 66 inch roundbars. A little flexy because I can’t mount the tent close to the towers, so we’ll see what happens. All in all...... I’m impressed.
I've never purchased from etrailer.com and was slightly nervous making such a large first time purchase, but I'm pleased to say I'm very happy! I was able to contact customer service to confirm that they had the Yakima Skyrise Rooftop tent which is basically sold out nation-wide.
The tent arrived quickly (within 2 weeks of placing the order with freight shipping) and with absolutely no complaints. We haven't used the new tent yet but we inspected the contents upon receipt (as advised) and there was no damage so we're not concerned there will be any issues.

I was searching high and low for this Yakima SkyRise HD roof top tent. During these trying times, inventory everywhere is slim to none. After repeated internet searches, I found one at etrailer.com. I placed my order, paid for it and waited. FREE DELIVERY to San Diego. In 2 days I received confirmation of the order and notice it was being prepared for shipping. Two days later I was notified of the shipping info for tracking and notice it had been shipped. Seven days later I am contacted by the shipping company to arrange delivery. Three days later the tent is delivered.
The outer box was free of damage. I opened the shipping container and the tent was safely packaged and in excellent condition. (Side note - UPS handled the delivery. They were professional, courteous and helpful.) The tent is exactly what I wanted, expected and received. Installed on my new truck as I prepare for the first of many overland trips throughout America.

These tents are great! Build quality is really good and setup is super easy! You'll want to make sure you've to the beefy roof rack as the off brands don't hold as much as they claim.

I have spent at least 30 nights in my Yakima SkyRise tent this past year. Nothing but GREAT things to say about it. Easy to put up and take down... Plenty of room inside for two Not 3! I spent 4 nights sleeping outdoors in MI deer hunting this past November. It was in the 20s at night. Holds heat well. I was able to plug in a small electric heater. I dont usually have an electric source when camping so this was a luxury! Everyone who sees this tent loves it! I could not recommend enough!!

1 year update: Im loving the tent! Weve gotten great use of the Yakima Skyrise HD and Im very happy we went with the Medium for a bit more space. Weve used it on a few overlanding trips to Utah and at a few campsites near home. The mattress is so comfy its hard to go back to sleeping on the ground : Get a roof top tent, you wont regret it!
