Yakima CoreBars - 60" Long - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Honda Pilot, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima CoreBar Roof Rack System. This is going to consist of part numbers Y00422. These are the Yakima CoreBars 60" long and that also includes the clamps that attach it to your towers. Moving down here we have the Yakima BaseLine Towers and this is for naked roofs. That's part number Y00146. Finally, the Base Clip Fit Kit and that's what attaches it to your actual vehicle and to the inside of your door frame.
That's going to be part number Y06152, and that's going to be the same for both the front and rear bars. This is a great roof rack system that can carry a wide variety of accessories ranging from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. It combines the strength of the Yakima RoundBar and the aerodynamics of the JetStream Bar, so it's going to cut down wind noise and drag while you drive. However, you're not able to use T-track accessories with this, so you're limited to the accessories that either clamp around the bars or completely wrap around the bars.Moving to the towers here, we do have this plastic knockout that can be removed and replaced with the Yakima SKS Lock System, which is sold separately and you can find this on etrailer.com. So not only can you secure it to your roof, but you can make it keyed alike to the accessories you're hauling as well. Opening up our cover here, you can see how everything attaches and gets put into place.
It is padded where it makes contact with the vehicle up at the top here as well as the clamp underneath the door frame, and that's to help protect your vehicle from any scratches or abrasions that could happen. All right. Let's go ahead and show you how the rear bar gets put together and put into place. We already have it partially assembled on our lovely white table here. Our first step is we're going to take the BaseLine Tower and we're going to attach it to the other end, but first we're going to take our brackets here from our CoreBar kit and install those so it's all set and ready. That just pushes into place with a snap.
Then the screw in the center here gets attached to this point like so, and then we'll open up or at least make sure that this gray tab is in the open position. You can tell that it is when you pull it out like so. Then we'll flip this upside down and we'll go to the screw here underneath. We're just going to loosely attach it for now just so it stays in place. Then we can slide this on like so.We'll flip this upside down to finish up what we're doing here, keeping in mind that towards this area, that's going to be towards the front of the vehicle because next we're going to be measure in between our towers here to make sure the spacing is right.
You can find these measurements in your instructions, and to make things easy, there is a halfway point marked here so you can get this measurement down. We've already figured this out ahead of time. All right. With that done, we'll take our included tightening tool, and then we're going to start setting our pitch and our toe. Our pitch is this bolt on the outside, and you'll see that it has three notches. Right now, we have to set this at notch B, which is the center. So make sure it's lined up, doesn't move. As we tighten this down, it's going to tighten the tower down to the bar, and you're going to hear a couple audible clicks here to let you know that it's tightened down to its capacity and you're not going to over-tighten it, like so.Next, we need to set our toe. Our toe is this dial here. Again, you have the three notches. In this case, it's going to be set at 2, which also is the center. So you want to make sure it's in that notch, and again, we'll tighten that down till we hear those clicks. Moved on me. There we go. There we go, and now we can take the pad from our BaseClip Fit Kit, and that just snaps into place making sure that the arrow on the bottom side here is facing outward. We put on our end cap as well, and now we're ready to set this on the roof of our vehicle.Set this down gently. You'll notice that I haven't put the clamps on yet. In the instructions from Yakima they do tell you to put the clamps on at this point. I like to leave them off until I'm ready to tighten them down because it just makes it a little bit easier for the measuring and stuff like that, so it doesn't get jumbled it with the door frame here. So, next we'll measure from center to center of our bars and, again, this measurements is in your instructions. We'll do this on both side to make sure it's even, and then we'll make sure it's even on both sides too. That looks pretty good and even.Next, go to the screw. We'll make sure it's loosened up, which it is, and that's what has this pointed outward. So once we install the clamp it's not going to make direct contact with the vehicle. We'll open up our rear door here. We'll open up the top gray door. Push this in place since we're done tightening that up. Then we'll push the clamp into place. Then, we'll tighten down that bolt and you can see how the clamp itself is coming down as well. Now it's resting on the vehicle. We'll do this on the other side as well. Now we can start loosely tightening it up against the door frame on both sides so it's snug. Now we'll go back and forth in tightening it until it's completely tightened down to the vehicle. Then you'll hear those clicks. Close both sides and then we'll put in our end caps. Now, one last thing I'd like to give you is a quick measurement or couple quick measurements to give you an idea of how high this sits off the roof of your vehicle. All right. From the center of the roof to the bottom of the bar is going to be 2-5/8", and then from the center to the top is going to be 3-3/4". So that's more than enough space in between the roof and the bars themselves where it's not going to make contact while you're putting those accessories that wrap around the bars. Also, you shouldn't have an issue with your sunroof using that as well when these are installed. These bars do have a carrying capacity of 220 pounds, but you always want to go by your vehicle's recommendations as far as whatever weight rating it has for the roof. There you have it for the Yakima CoreBar Roof Rack System on our 2016 Honda Pilot.

These crossbars combine the strength of steel with an aerodynamic shape to create a heavy-duty yet quiet roof rack for your vehicle. Full-length bars maximize cargo carrying capacity and work with most clamp-on accessories.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
I have a 10th gen Civic sedan and I was dying to get the perfect roof rack set for my car. At the time of my purchase there was not many visuals of what the rack system looked like on this car.
I purchased the:
•Yakima 50in Jetstream crossbars
•Yakima baseline towers
•bc182 & bc183 clips
•Yakima 46in fairing
Overall I love how it looks on my car! During This COVID pandemic I have been camping more, and this is the perfect foundation! First off, the 46in fairing is the perfect fit for the 10th gen civic! Wind noise is low also with the help of the aerodynamic crossbars. My main concern was the fuel efficiency. On long road trips I still average 38-40 mpg with the rack on. My daily commutes I average 34 mpg without Econ on.
We purchased the Yakima Skyline Towers roof rack with the Jet Stream crossbars. Took about 2 hours to install on the naked roof of our Flex. I drilled through the roof strip for the mounting bolts and they fit tighter than the factory rails. Very happy with our choice.
Item was as described and shipping was fast. Overall very satisfied with trailer. Will definitely order my stuff from them
I ordered the wrong set up for my car, but the excellent customer service specialist set me up and expedited my roof rack that fit perfectly. I highly recommend calling and speaking with the knowledgeable staff about your needs. I'm super happy with the experience overall!
Was skeptical at first because I needed the posts as well for my 2011 Honda Element. The Honda crossbars were not adequately weight rated and is why I opted for Yakima. Couldn't be happier with my choice as this assembly has served me well throughout the year.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Perfect. Perfect. Easy to install and high quality. Confident in this product. Excellent instructions. Used with towers of course! Towers and crossbars have demonstrated to be strong and durable with several trips with kayaks.
Well packaged and on time
I have not bought car roof racks for decades--back when there were those very useful rain gutters. So I was shocked with the high prices. But what you get today is much more carefully engineered with a complicated construction. This Yakima version even comes with a manual 3.5 mm hex driver which turns out to be a torque wrench too. You use it 16 times, torquing to its limit, in installing the two cross rails on the four towers. Years ago you installed the towers where you wanted them on the rain gutters and adjusted the cross rails by sight. No more. You must go on line to Yakima. You must get the precisely engineered dimensions for your exact vehicle. You even adjust the towers for the roof slope and any toe-in of the roof line. Pay attention to the precise instructions. The result is very solid. I wish that I had more space between the cross rails. There is room for another 6 or 8 inches given where the door openings on my 2019 Toyota Highlander are spaced. But then the rear base clips would be different and that logistics would add yet more to the price. I am confident that I can secure a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood on the cross rails. And I will find my vehicle in the mall parking lot easier with those good looking rails. While I am happy with the end product, I wish the vendors had given more explanation of the fixed dimensions of today's installations. That would have helped make my on-line shopping less frustrating. Part of the problem is that Yakima and Thule do not provide cross rails for my LE Highlander's existing tower bases. And I could not get 60 inch cross rails on any of the versions that fit my LE's bases.
The roof rack has been awesome! It has been really handy to be able to attach our bike rack attachment, kayak bars or traveling cargo carrier. My only complaint is that the end caps fell off somewhere along one of our many adventures and looks a bit disheveled. Other than the appearance it has been very versatile and we love it!
I want to thank the staff at eTrailer for their outstanding support. After my roof rack order got off to a shaky start the customer service staff stepped in and made it right; 100% RIGHT. I cannot thank them, and eTrailer, enough. Regarding the roof rack itself, I have now installed it and can vouch that the installation was a breeze. All parts fit and the instructions were correct. For the record, this is not my first purchase from eTrailer (I've bought hitch items from them before) and it won't be my last. They have ALWAYS given great service, their web site works, their products and descriptions are good, etc., etc. Thank you!
Roof rack parts were ordered correctly and shipped quickly.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
I did a lot of research before purchasing my roof rack. I came across this website and liked the prices, and after much thought, decided to get the Yakima CoreBar crossbars. I received my roof rack within a couple days of ordering! It's extremely sturdy and doesn't make hardly any wind noise. I love it and it looks great on my car, couldn't be happier with my purchase!!
The 60" CoreBar Crossbars will be much more useful to us than the original 50" bars placed on our shell at the factory. The only issue I had was that there were no instructions with the bars. It took a little while for me to figure out how the old bars came off and how to put the new ones on but I'll consider that a learning experience.
The instructions were different for another set of bars. Was a pain to get right...all the measurements on Yakima were off...I figured it out on my own...should have got Thule or nicer bars ..end caps were not good either...flawed fit... otherwise will do just not happy with the product perse or instructions...delivery good...will see how they do.
This Yakima rack system for my 2017 Kia Sedona works great and are rock solid. I have two Kayaks I take to the lake, river, and beach house for vacations. Dena was extremely helpful and kept me up to date on everything. It’s very seldom to find a company with reps that actually care about the customer!!!! Please keep this going! The shipping was fast and easy and I had them installed within an hour in this Georgia heat! The only thing missing was the etrailer stickers......... ;p I would definitely recommend this product from etrailer for any of you rack needs!!!
