Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello! Last night I put together my EXPLORER SPORT RACK Luggage carrier for our beach trip. I have a 2012 Honda Pilot, and we do not have the racks on top of vehicle. The Sport Rack said it can be used without a rack and provided straps for strapping through metal brackets on carrier. However it did not come with MOUNTING HOOKS to do this, Looks like I need Mounting hooks for the straps to go into top of door jam? Would thik I would need one for each door? Do you have these Mounting hooks that go on straps for Honda Pilot?? Please let me know. I can email picture of mounting hooks if will help. Thanks!

The Sportrack Skyline Cargo Box SR7095 that you referenced does require a roof rack with crossbars that run from one side of the roof to the other. There's no way to attach it to a roof without them. I am not sure where you would have read that we try to make it pretty clear on our cargo box descriptions that it requires crossbars.

If you have rails that run front to back on the roof of your vehicle you would need the roof rack that consists of part numbers # RRVA137B-2 and # RRSX100.

If you have a naked roof you would want the Yakima Roof Rack made up of # Y00426, # Y28TR, # Y06183 instead.

If a roof rack isn't in your budget you could return the cargo box and use a cargo bag like the part # RL100S30 that does NOT require a roof rack to install.
