Can I Carry Four Bikes On A 2020 Tesla Model 3

Question:

What are your thoughts about installing a hangover 4 on a Tesla model 3 that has a stealth hitch? Ground clearance, overall height and tongue weight are my concerns. I have a kuat nv 2.0 which works great, but the 2 bike extension would seem to add too much weight.

The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # 391TES317, has a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs, but your car is only rated to carry 200 lbs on its hitch receiver. A Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # BA22B-BA02B, weighs 82 lbs. This means your bikes could weigh up to the four bike maximum of 118 lbs, That is just under 30 lbs per bike, so e-bikes are definitely out.

On the other hand, the Yakima HangOver 4 Bike Rack for Mountain Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting, part # Y02484, needs at least 12" of clearance between the hitch receiver and the ground. The Stealth hitch receiver only provides 9-1/2". In addition, your hitch receiver needs to be at least a Class III hitch receiver. A Class III hitch receiver is not compatible with your vehicle. If you want to carry four bikes your only option would be carrying bikes on the roof of your vehicle.

Yakima does make a roof rack that would fit on your 2020 Tesla Model 3. It will work with most bikes, but probably not with most e-bikes. This rack will consist of the following:

Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2, part # Y00426,
BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Naked Roofs - Qty 4, part # Y28TR,
BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 4, part # Y06173, and the
Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores (QTY 4), part # Y07204.

This roof rack has a weight limit of 165 lbs, but check with your owner's manual to check the maximum weight limit for your roof and adhere to the lowest amount.

I have included product description links and installation links below.
