Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

responsive ratchet strap with self-tightening system

These are not your typical ratchet straps. Built with a unique spring system inside the ratchet mechanism, Responsive Ratchets will automatically adjust to keep tension on your load if it shifts during transport. This helps your cargo stay put in your truck bed or trailer, even during a rougher ride.

Self-Tensioning System

As you ratchet down the straps, the internal springs build and hold tension. This energy is stored and activates if the load shifts to keep the straps tight. Where other ratchet straps could come lose, causing your cargo to move or even fall off, these straps will continue to hold tension. This is a perfect option for longer trips with heavy cargo. You'll spend less time inspecting and ratcheting down the straps when you periodically check them during your trip.

Strong, Easy-to-Use Handle and Durable Construction

The Responsive Ratchets have sturdy, large bar handles that make them easy to use. They also have snap hooks and durable polyester webbing that will stand up against the elements.

Video Transcript for Responsive Ratchet Self-Tensioning Tie-Down Straps Review

When tying down odd loads, like the trim we have up top here. A lot of times it starts to shift whether you're doing this or maybe some piping or tubing. It's always nice to have a responsive ratchet like this, that when the load starts to shift, it's going to make sure that this is going to stay nice and tight. These are perfect for a truck bed. As you can see in the back, we don't have too much excess. They're about eight foot long and about an inch and a half wide.

So, it's going to have a working load limit of a thousand pounds. So perfect for this and a break strength of 3000. So let's go ahead and take our snap hooks. I really like these because if you're tying it down by yourself, I don't know if you've ever done it. A lot of the times when I do it, sometimes it comes undone on my own.

So I'd rather just snap it right here. So once this is clipped on, you don't really have to worry about it coming undone, which is always nice and get it nice and tight, just like that. So as you can see really, really tight, but let's go ahead and simulate a shifting of the load. So we're just going to kind of wiggle these back and forth. Maybe rotate one back, kind of like that.

All right, so shifted it a little bit, but we still have a decent amount of tension. Basically what makes this different from any other strap It's going to be this little piece right here that just basically has a spring in it. So as the load shifts, it's going to have a little bit of play. As you can see, this is going to rotate a tiny bit as I pull up on it. It's not a whole lot, but it is enough just to make sure it's going to stay nice and tight.

It's not going to be an extreme thing. If you take a two by four or a two by six, up on it's upright and flip it to the side, you're going to have a little bit of slack. This is just going to take care of the micro shifts that you feel whenever you're going down the road. This piece here you can notice the cool little color. So it is going to be coded and it is going to be more resistant against rust and corrosion over time. So if you do keep the load in the truck or on your trailer, it's not going to rust away. These are pretty much good to stay outside and they'll work throughout the seasons. It is a lighter load, about a thousand pounds. So we don't really need a massive, massive crank. One, I kind of like this, so it's not too bulky. It's easier to store but also it still has plenty of leverage to get it nice and tight. And it does have a little plastic housing here. So it's not going to get your hands cold in the winter, or it's not going to get really hot in the summer. It's just nice and easy gripped and has little channels here, so it's pretty easy to tighten it down and then put it down for hauling. Whether you're just upgrading from the ratchet, ratchet straps you may have, or you're just going around on the farm. Whether you're just hauling lumber like we did on the truck, or just going and hauling some feed buckets. The side by side, it hits a lot of bumps. It's a little bit more of a rough ride since you're not on the road. So having something that is going to respond to the shifts is definitely going to be a plus. These hooks are really great for the tie-downs in the bed of your truck, just because the loops are kind of thin. But right here, basically from this point up to the top is about three quarters of an inch and then the opening is going to be about three quarters of an inch. So it doesn't really work that well with a cargo carrier. It's not really going to go completely around it, but it will be able to hook into wherever you need it to, but it's not going to snap into place, but it'll still act as if just you're using a standard S or J hook ratchet strap. But one thing it did fit around is the hitch. So the safety chain loops. If you do plan on tying down your generators like me, it does fit around my safety chain loops. And those are usually around the same size. So it's safe to say, they're going to work with all of your hitch receivers. And that's just basically for your cargo carrier items you're tying down. Where the snap hooks are really going to shine, I always tie stuff down to the trailer, but when I'm by myself, I loop one on one side. And if you don't keep that tension, it's going to come undone. I've done it many times but with this, it won't really go completely around my trailer. But what you can do is you can wrap it around itself and hook it on to the strap if you want. That is one thing that I've done in the past, especially when I'm just doing it by myself. These do come in a pack of two and they come with one soft loop. So what you could do is go like this and take the strap and snap the snap hook around just like that. So that's always nice if you're tying down a machine that you don't want to scratch the paint or something like that, you'd go ahead and use this. And that will just make sure nothing gets scratched or damaged. To sum it all up, if you're getting ratchet straps for your load, just get the ones that have the responsive little spring on the inside. It's just going to make sure that the load isn't going to shift and it just gives you a little bit more added protection. So if you're already buying them, might as well get some that are going to work a little bit harder for you. And again, these we're the responsive ratchets, and I'm Adam with etrailer..
