Valterra electric valve pieces

The switch plate, wiring, seals, and hardware needed to install this electric waste valve on your RV's black water tank are included. The switch plate installs in the RV's control panel. The waste valve secures to existing pipes using ABS solvent cement (A05-0303 - sold separately). A booklet with step-by-step instructions and a template for drilling are also included.

Valterra electric valve gray water switch

You can also adapt the valve to work with your gray-water tank. A gray switch plate is included for that purpose. For this installation, you will need to use adapters (sold separately) to convert the valve opening from 3" to 1-1/2" in diameter.

Valterra electric valve manual use

If you're dry camping or in the case of a power failure, the manual override is easy to use. Simply remove the pin from the valve's lift arm and turn the handle 90 degrees clockwise. Then pull the handle to open the valve.

I installed 3 of these valves on my RV, i've had them for a year now with no problems with the valves themselves the only issue was one of the switch red lights that lets you know it's open went out but really don't need it, I am very pleased

Got it today thought I’ll probably put in Saturday and as I took it out of the box the manual lever lock was broke and filed down to make it look like it was meant to be. And it also said that it comes with the black and gray water switch, it only came with the black tank one. Direction should have been included, right nope.

by:

Installation was easy…. Getting to them was the hard part.
Taking down the underbelly was less than fun. Cutting holes in it was even a worse idea.
But, installation went well. Great product, super fast open and close, easy to wire and made my own console for the switches which wasn’t hard either.

Had to put them in different directions due to the main sewer drain being in the way but the auto gate valves do not care which way they go, they work fine either way. Just hope they last as I really don’t like working on my back….

by:

Except for having to make some minor modifications to my flanges (they were bowed out between the bolt holes) so the actuators were clearing the flange, the install was easy. The flange issue is not the valve manufacturers fault, just how the flange was made. My old valves were cable style and cheap and these will be a great upgrade on Leaky crappy valves. I was tired of getting the sewer surprise every time I dumped. etrailer delivered on time and at a good value.

Nice valve for remote operation . The wiring is 4 ft from switch to motor/valve, and 3 ft of wire for power. I replaced power wire with a 10 ft piece which was only $9 bucks. Take pic of switch wiring cause you need to remove wires from switch to pass wires through any holes you drill in floor and cabinets, etc . Watch out for water , electric wires when drilling holes. Hole needs to be at least 1/2”for wire ends to pass through. If wood is thick I would do 5/8” hole . Pass big wire ends through first and smaller next. Or cut wire ends off and recrimip new ends after running wires.

by:

Every things was in the package , arrive at the time its was schedule .
The installation went very good and easy , to dot it your self if you are manuel its will work find.
I change a existing cable valve with this electric waste valve , the only bad situation was to work under the RV .
The valve work great .

I replaced the 2 manual valves with 2 E40A-8’s...one of the best upgrades I’ve done with my Renegade RV.... Easy installation......Great product..... Great price..... Thanks etrailer.... You’re still the best.....

by:

The customer loves it. He said it's a lot easier to control all the dumps in one spot.

by:

The Drain Master cam-lock waste water hose is second to none, but after having to use a small allen wrench to manually open/close a failed Drain Master black tank valve, I replaced both with this Valterra assembly. They require a fair amount of space above them to open, but it is much easier to manually operate them, if necessary. They are well-constructed. No leaks, no problems after a year of use, and etrailer offered quick delivery and excellent customer service.

Keep in mind-- the switches are a rocker design that makes open/close positions less obvious, and in bright sun, the red led may be hard to see. I learned this while flushing out my black tank. After I was finished, I reinserted the stopper, thinking the black tank valve was closed. The next time I went to drain the tanks, I took the stopper out, and had a 40 gallon gusher of raw sewage! One thing I can say about all my RV mistakes- I never repeat them!

Install a little hard but valve worked great.

by:

This is such a great product,I don't know why it is not an option more often on a rv.I installed the control switch inside my rv near a window that looks out on the sewer connection.I have the clear 3" elbows on both hose ends of my sewer hose, and can observe from inside, the operation of emptying my black tank.Being able to do so during rainy or cold weather is such a great luxury.I have had this in operation for about a year now and it has performed flawlessly.I chose this brand over others due to the ability to manually operate valve in event of a power loss.Installation was very simple and instructions were very detailed. Will never have a rv without one now.

by:

Good quality components. One of the valve actuators arrived damage. Contacted etrailer and they shipped out a replacement. All in all great addition to my sister-in-law's rig as she has trouble bending down

by:

So far a very good valve. I just removed the old cable valve and this slipped right into it's place.
There was one little surprise, the instructions did not indicate which 12v wire was positive. There is a black and white wire. I assumed black was positive, it's not. So of course the valve opened when I connected the wires.

by:

I bought this item hoping it would fix the issues I had with the factory installed cable, NOPE. This part is no better than the cable system. The clip that hold the valve handle to the electric motor doesn’t clip on correctly, I even tried making it work with zip ties, it worked for maybe two weeks, now I just crawl under the RV and operate it manually. Don’t waste your money.

by:

After one year these valves have been flawless. I added one for black and one for grey tank on our Montana 5th wheel. So much better than the stiff cable valves it had from the factory that never completly closed.

by:

I would recommend this product to anyone who has long remote pull drains.
It made both the black and gray water work without a hitch. Just smooth full open to full closed. Well worth the money. Install them myself with the help of my son. They bolted right up no problem.

by:

Was originally thold the items would not ship until the week of the 10th, almost a full week after my order was placed. When I called about the order was told it was out of stock. But their website said instock. I recieved the order this afternoon on the 10th. I have been overall very happy with Etrialer and will continue to order from them. As far as the valve, install is tomorrow

I am more than satisfied with this product. We purchased a brand New Renegade Vienna MH, on a Mercedes Chassis. It is a very nice Motor Home, but the very tight spaces underneath the rear caused the (cable pull) Valves very hard to pull and would not close all the way. To our disappointment the manufacturer could not make them work to my satisfaction. A independent repair facility near us suggested the Valterra Electric valves. The manual valves that were on the MH already were Valterra, so the switch was extremely easy. BEST DECISION I've made in years. I 100% suggest this product

by:

Instalation of the valve was easy on my 1999 Alpen lite St. Andrews. Removeable of the underbelly is simple Alpen lite provides two panels to be removed for easy access to manuel valves. The electrical assembly was straight forward having to add 10 inches of wire to reach my battery compartment. For us folks who are replacing our manual valves with electric it would be nice to have a water proof gang box to fit switch assembly. There are no gang boxes available that fit the switch panel without extensive modification to the gang box. Completed installation in 5 hours. The second valve will take about 2. lol Thanks etrailer for great parts at a great price.

by:

1 year review. Purchased the Valterra electric waste dump valves (3 ea.) and after 1 year the motor on one unit has failed. I did reorder a replacement unit as I still prefer these over traditional cable pull valves.

by:

Nice valve, well built. Everything needed for the install is included. Valve opens and closes quickly. This valve replaced a leaking cable valve that was in a tight position requiring an excessive angle on the cable. Problem solved with this electric valve. I installed a 5" access port in the belly pan in case of failure. Will allow me to empty my tank without having to drop the belly pan.

My only complaint is that the switch plate will not fit a single or double gang electrical box. Had to make my own since there was no room to mount the switch plate on my panel.

by:

Replaced black valve that had a kinked cable. A great product. Is working well. Installation was difficult in my case due to the original installation. I used two 3" rubber sleeves (Fernco) to join drain line that had to be parted in two places to free up space for the valve. Feel most owners would not have go to these lengths. Electrics were easy. Still glad I did this addition to my RV.

  • Can The Switch For The Motorized EZ Tank Valve Be Mounted Outside The RV
I talked to the install gurus down at the shop. The Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank - 3" Hub to 3" Spigot # E40-8 should not be mounted outside in the weather. If you have a storage compartment close to the valve you would need to put the switch inside the compartment to prevent damage to the switch and electrical system.

  • Can the Wires Between the Valve and Switch On the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve Be Extended
The Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve part # E40-8 is an excellent option for hassle/mess free dumping. The wire leads on the valve are about 8-1/2" long whereas the wire leads on the switch are about 7' long. If you need more space between the valve and switch then you can certainly extend the wires as needed with some butt connectors. That said, just be sure to cut far enough behind the connector that you still have room to attach the butt connector.

  • Electric Waste Valve for 4 Inch Diameter Black Water Tubing
Are you referring to a waste valve for your black water tank? If this is the case than are you sure you have a 4" diameter tube because the industry standard size for a black water tube is 3" diameter which is what most of our waste valves are designed to work with. We do not have any 4" diameter electric waste valves but you can reduce the 4" diameter black water tube down to a 3" diameter black water tube and use one of the following: Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve part # E40A-8...

Honestly if it were me installing Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve # E40-8 I would run a new wire to the battery. If you tap into an existing 12 volt circuit the extra load on that circuit could cause a fuse, or breaker if equipped, to blow. Basically you would have to be sure that the combined power draw of the valve and whatever else may be on that circuit is within the capacity of that circuit. This particular valve pulls 2.5 amps. But as far as any 12 volt circuits that are near...

  • What is Shortest Cable Length for RV Sewer Dump Valve
The shortest cable length for the RV dump valves is 36 inches like the part # 34466N4AB36GM you referenced. You can loop the cable to take up the extra slack and it will work fine. The bigger the loop you can make the better as that will allow the cable to slide the easiest. We do have an electric version of this with the part # E40-8 as well.

Yes, the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # E40B-8 can be oriented sideways so it's able to open up under your trailer.
