Video Transcript for Review of Steele Rubber RV Slide Out Parts - Bulb and Wiper Seals - SR68FR

Jeff Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 30' Long Stick On One-Piece Bulb and Wiper Seal for your RV Slide Out. I want to zoom in, and show you the seal up close here. This One-Piece Bulb and Wiper Seal is used to prevent water from leaking into the slide out on your RV. The wiper seal flexes in or out, depending on how the slide is moving. And the bulb portion seals against the RV when the slide out is closed.

It is a nice universal design, so it can replace almost any slide-out seal configuration. The seal is commonly found on the current Forest River Fifth Wheels, and it's also ideal for the 2013 Itasca Meridian Motorhomes. The flexible wiper has this hinge section you can see, with the adhesive back. And it allows the seal to be used on right angles, different wall thicknesses, and even on thin lips. The rubber they use in this is a highly wear and weather resistant rubber, protects the RV from extreme weather and pests.

And, as we mentioned, if you look at the bottom, has a peel and stick installation, has a pre-applied 3M adhesive backing on it. You just simply peel off the backing paper, and then apply the seal to your surface. Dimensions on this one, this is 30 feet long. The width from this end to this end is gonna be 3 3/16 inches wide. The total height from the bottom to the top of the bulb is 15/16 inch.

So just under one inch. Now this part number is the 30' Long Seal. We do also offer this in a 15' Long Seal. It's part number SR98FR. And they even offer it in a 60' Long Seal.

It's part number SR68FR. Both of those, we do sell separately on our website. Now this part is made in the USA. But that should do it for the review on this 30' Long Stick On One-Piece Bulb and Wiper Seal for the RV Slide Out..

The seal fit well on the sides of the slide out but in places over the top it barely touched the roof of the slide out. Could have been a bit wider.

  • Is The Rubber Wiper Seal And Bulb For RV Slide Outs # SR68FR Available In 3 Width
While we don't currently carry this style wiper/bulb seal with a total width of 3" the # SR68FR is just slightly over at 3-3/16" in total width, which is honestly going to be better for your slide out. Having worked on a lot of different motorhomes and trailers I've seen a lot where the seals either barely touch the slide out box or will not even touch when the box hits a certain angle while extending and retracting it. The whole purpose of the seal is to "wipe" the box so that bugs,...

  • Is Sealant Needed When Installing Rubber Wiper Slide Out Seals
Sealant isn't required when installing the Rubber Wiper Seal and Bulb for RV Slide Out # SR68FR, but I would put a few screws in to help hold the seal since the trailer will bake in the sun and can cause issues with the 3M tape. At minimum I would put a screw on each end. You'll want to overlap your seals so that the top seal sits over the side seals to prevent water from leaking past them.

Hey Edward, I don't have the exact info on what your 2011 Big Horn would have came with but if what you have now is has a bulb that is 3-3/16 inches wide and looks like this style it would work. That's really the best way to find out what you need as unfortunately RVs aren't like cars that have every little replacement part listed.
