Video Transcript for Surehoof Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat Review

Horses' hooves are protected by metal, but even if you don't have your horse's hooves shoed, they're pretty damaging. So, as you can see on our trailer, even the sides get a little bit torn up from those hooves. So, the Surehoof trailer mat is going to kind of protect your trailer. So, it's gonna last all those years. So, we don't have to be replacing these floors every couple years. This could be used for your floors, but also on the walls as well, 'cause sometimes when those horses are kinda kicking around, sometimes they kind of hit the sides right here.

So one, it's gonna kind of protect and give it a nice little barrier, so the water doesn't get to it but also protect it from the hooves as well. When it comes to this, the size of it overall, the lengths about 72 inches, the width is about 48 inches and each of these little slats is about two inches thick. So, every single time we need to trim this down a little bit. I think maybe two inches would do it. 'Cause you can see how we're kind of coming up on the side of our horse trailer right here.

But this is gonna be the easiest point to cut through, 'cause it's the thinnest. At its thickest point, it's about a half inch, which is kind of a lot. That's gonna be a really good barrier for the horse hooves or whatever kind of livestock that you're hauling around, whether it's cattle, pigs, whatever, everything, they really do like to kind of dig in. And another thing about this is woods tends to soak up some of that smell. So, whenever we're hauling our pigs from our little spot to the campgrounds for the fair, it just smells horrible for, I don't know, about a week or so.

So, having something that's not gonna absorb all of that nasty stuff. So, it makes it nice and easy to clean out. So, your trailer isn't gonna stink. We keep ours in our shed. So, we wanna keep our shed smelling good too.

This is a horse mat, but I would definitely use it in our cattle trailer as well. Our cattle trailer is aluminum, so we're not really worried about the moisture and stuff, but it just gets so loud. So, having this down at the bottom, whenever we're at the fair or whatever, whatever kind of show we bring 'em to, it's just gonna keep that noise to a minimum. 'Cause we typically have a decent amount of animals in whatever trailer we have this in and it's just gonna keep that sound a little bit lower. So, it insulates there for sound. But also if you're hauling around in the cold, it's gonna help keep that some of that heat in. So, your animals are a little bit more comfortable. This is where we take care of a lot of our cows, but we put mats down. 'Cause whenever we go to shows and stuff, they're not really used to walking on concrete, their feet get a little sore and they start to walk a little different. So, we wanna protect their hooves to make sure that they're nice and comfortable, 'cause we usually take them out to somewhere that they're not really used to being. So, whenever the mat is in your trailer you unload everything and you put 'em somewhere. You can take that whole entire mat out and put it down if you're on concrete or something just to protect your animals. I think it's kind of the best of both worlds. It's gonna protect your trailer, but then you can also move it around to protect your animals too. The happier they are, the happier I am. So, that's kind of what we do here. Another thing too for the dogs might as well just put it in their kennel, if you have an outside kennel. One, it's easier to wash off. And two, it's gonna be a nice little warm spot for them to kind of lay out and stuff. So, it's not just for horses, not just for anything with hooves, you can use it for any types of animals. It just makes it easier to clean and it gives them a nice little cool spot. We even use this for the dirt, the horses in the stall they just sit there and just paw, paw, paw and just dig these massive holes. And this is what we did to prevent it. These have been down for, I don't know, probably like three or four years, and we don't have any holes and it only takes them about one season to paw at it, and literally be able to just have their whole entire head underneath our fence. So, put it on concrete for the hooves. You can put it on the ground just to protect what you got going there. At the end of the day it's not about just protecting our equipment. It's also about our furry little friends and that's pretty much it for our look at the Surehoof horse trailer mat..

Great mat. Cut fairly easy and looks so nice on my ramp. Love e trailer. Good prices and inventory

by:

Great quality I’ve ordered many of these over the last couple years. I’ve had no problem.

by:

This is perfect for a horse trailer ramp. When hosing off the trailer nothing sticks to the mat. Durable because of the thickness of the mat.

by:

My horse trailer ramp had become worn and slippery to walk up and down on. The original material was available but even new had been a bit slippery. After much research I decided to try this product instead. My ramp is steep because the axles were raised a couple inches to take the trailer off road. But I have not had a horse slip since changing to this material on my ramp. Icould wish the material were lighter but then it would not be as durable.

Still happy a year out. No noticeable wear and the horses do not slip.

by:

The product itself is great. Used as mats in my two horse trailer. Their packaging for shipping was a joke. Both boxes were mostly destroyed because they were so flimsy. Delivery guy asked me if I ordered two because the second one’s box was such a mess it was hard to see who it went to.

by:

Unfortunately this didn't meet our needs for a trailer ramp. The thickness and weight made it too difficult to add to our ramp. It also wasnt the type of traction material we had thought it was (probably my erroe). We repurchased it as a landing zone when unloading horses from the non-ramp trailer at home.

by:

We use this in a cargo trailer that we tow for camping trips. NOTHING moves off this mat in transit. We stack sealed containers three across and three deep on it and it all stays in place.

The price to pay for that amazing stay-put feature is that you’re not going to be sliding containers across it for loading.

It’s been great for our uses. Great price and value.

by:

I searched local suppliers - couldn't find any material that would not require piecing together two parts rather than do the job with one piece. Online, some products were too thin, some too thick, your material was PERFECT for a horse trailer ramp. When the matting material is installed with the ribs running from side to side, there is no way a horse can slip while climbing in or backing out. It took quite a while to find your ad - I am so glad that I persevered.

by:

great heavy duty thick mat , fits perfectly in my RAM promaster city. I deliver boxes of wine , they do not slide around anymore . I am very happy with the product

Working perfectly , heavy duty , thick , no problem with daily wear and tear

by:

I have two horses and a trailer. I use the mats in the trailer but they are not for the horses this time. I am also a competitive weight lifter and have no place to work out because the gymnasiums are shut down. I bought 3 mats to use under my "squat cage". They work better than the ones sold as gym mats.

by:

Fit perfectly on my trailer ramp, after 1 year of use still looks brand new.

Fantastic, just had my trailer serviced and no issues

by: 11/11/2021

Mat arrived on time however was rolled and wrapped in saran wrap. It had been dropped and creased and in some places broken. This should have been shipped in a cardboard tube to protect it

by:

Mat is holding up very well on the trailer ramp. Very satisified withit.

by:

Yeah. It's a heavy rubber mat. Seriously heavy.

by:

It worked well although about an j in n he to narrow for my ramp.

by:

A must have for horses. Protects the floor and provides a good cushion for a 1300 LB animal.

by:

Holds up well after one year. Great pro duct.

by:

Going to use in horse wash rack but haven’t installed yet

  • Should Ribbed Mat Be Installed Vertically Or Horizontally In Horse Trailer
The Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat part # 4872SM can really be installed an any orientation but naturally vertically is best for water run off. The ribbed mat is great for traction vertically or horizontally so it is really up to you which way to install it. We did have a customer put the product in his horse trailer veritcally and left us a nice review.

  • Floor Mat Recommendation for Horse Trailer
We offer Surehoof Ribbed rubber trailer mats that work great for horse trailers, such as the 48 x 72 inch # 4872SM you've looked at or the # 3622RM which is 36 x 22. The # 3622RM is thinner at 5/16 of an inch, while the # 4872SM is a half inch thick. The mats are durable, cab be trimmed to fit and are easily removable for cleaning. The # 3622RM would be ideal for lining the trailer walls if you wished to do so, and because its thicker, the # 4872SM would be best for the floors as they'd...

  • Recommended Rubber Trailer Mat For 6 By 12 Foot Trailer
We don't have a single mat that is confirmed to fit that size trailer. I recommend using 3 of the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat - 48" x 72" # 4872SM to perfectly fit your trailer. You could use a bonding agent to make these 3 mats into 1 if you desired. This mat is 1/2 inch thick.

  • I Need a new Rubber Gate Mat for my 2009 Exiss Horse Trailer.
The SUREHOOF RIbbed Rubber Mat part # 4872SM is the perfect solution for you. It is 6' by 4' meaning you can place two of these side by side on your door to give your animals a nice stable and non slip entry into the trailer. With the length at 6 feet if it is a bit too long you can trim it to your specific application. Same can be said for width but with the trailer at 8' wide it should be about perfect.

  • Cargo Mat Recommendation to Turn Rear of Van into Mini Horse Hauler
I think the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat # 4872SM that you referenced would be the best option we have to turn the rear of your 2002 Dodge Caravan into a mini horse hauler. Since this was intended for horse trailers it would be ideal for the mini horses. You could trim this to fit your vehicle as well. It weighs 73 lb.

I believe you are referring to the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat part # 4872SM which is designed for enclosed trailers. I recommend to use DeeZee Universal 6' Long x 3-1/2' Utility Mat for Trucks and Trailers part # DZ85009 if you can get away with losing a 1/2 ft of coverage. The best option we have for your horse trailer is the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat part # 3622RM for 36" wide x 22' long or part # 4872SM for 48" wide x 72" long. These mats can then be cut to fit the exact size of your horse trailer's floor. These mats are also very simple to clean so as long as you...

  • Best Way To Install Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat On A Horse Trailer Ramp
There is not a specific recommended adhesive to use with the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat # 4872SM. If it is going to be staying flat on a floor, a strong polyurethane style glue will work fine. If it will be on a ramp stored in the upright position, just glue likely would not be enough since the mat itself is fairly heavy (about 65 lbs). You would want to nail or screw the mat to the mounting surface for added support.

There is not a specific, recommended method for installing the Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat, # 4872SM.
