Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Covers - Misc Covers - C22277 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Rubber Hitch Cover for two and a half inch trailer hitches. This hitch cover protects your receiver from dirt and debris. It looks great with your Curt Class V commercial duty trailer hitch. The cover simply pushes into the receiver opening. No pins or clips are needed to hold it in place. It's constructed of a very strong, solid, durable rubber construction.

Again, it is designed for a two and half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch. If we take a measurement, edge to edge going this direction, we can see that that's going to measure about three and five eighths of an inch. Going this direction it's going to be the same, so it's a nice square design, three and five eighths by three and five eighths. This area back here is going to measure right around two and a half inches by two and a half inches, so that's how it fits tightly into a two and a half inch hitch. You'll notice that it has these raised portions on all sides. That gives it that nice, snug, secure fit.

Then the length of the lip right here, that's going to measure one and three eighths of an inch long. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Rubber Hitch Cover for two and a half inch trailer hitches.

Curt trailer hitch cover quality is still very good after a years use in central Washington State.
This hitch cover is keeping debris out of my receiver and stays in place.
I’d buy again.

One year after purchasing and using this hitch cover. This product is still looking good and stays in place after summer heat, winter cold and snow storms. Car washes haven’t caused it to dislodge either. I’d still buy it again.

I was pleased to find a hard rubber 2.5 x 2.5 receiver cover with a 1.3 inch neck that holds the cover to the receiver with friction. I had another with a 1/4 inch neck that was gone to the never-never land in a matter of weeks. I made one from laminated rubber sheet. But I like clean design of the Curt. The neck on this cover gives a good grip and the flush fit with the outside of the receiver seems to keep water out of the receiver. The attached picture shows the cover in the OEM receiver of a GMC 2500.

by:

My B&W turnover gooseneck ball gets debris in it and then I can't pull it out and turn it over so I wanted a plug so I can keep the ball in my truck. Your company is the only one that offers a plug large enough. It seems to fit very well good quality. Thank you.

by:

Exactly what I expected

by:

Works as advertised; delivery was quick

by:

Very easy to install and a nice tight f it.

by:

The cover was stolen a week after I put it on needs a longer shaft that can be locked

by:

Great accessory to add a finished look to the back of our truck. Fits snugly in the hitch. Stays put through the car wash!

by:

Exactly as described. Our truck has a 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, and the GMC dealer couldn't get the correct size. etrailer.com is one of the few places where I could find it.

It is still on the hitch and doing its job.

by:

Fitment is still nice and tight a year on, use it regularly as my truck won't fit inside with the hitch in, so it gets changed out all the time. Does the job.

by:

I needed a plug for my class V, 2-1/2” receiver tube. Honestly, this Curt cover was the only one I found in that size. Turns out that it was the only one that I needed! It is black hard rubber and fits snuggly in the receiver. Have had it on my 2018 Ram Power Wagon for over a year. Keeps out the salt & road debris. Withstands pressure washing and has not loosened with time. It blends in nicely with the truck in a subdued way. You don’t notice it when it is on the truck, but you notice when it is not. It is a nice finishing touch. Couldn’t ask for a better item. Should have came with the truck in my opinion. Very reasonable price too.

by:

Nice heavy duty cover for hitch opening great fit. If you have a 2-1/2" hitch opening, you want this item.

by:

Great product. As far as I can tell, this Curt hitch cover is the only 2 1/2" rubber
hitch cover made. There are a bunch of metal ones that need to be pinned and
locked and a cheap plastic version that falls out, but no other HD rubber versions.

This one fits in snugly and securely and does what it's designed to do.

Recommended.

by:

The cover has a loose fit into the receiver and wouldn’t stay in place. I added a small piece of rubber to one side where the cover slides into the receiver and it fits very tight now. The cover was inexpensive so I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, it serves it purpose and looks good while covering the receiver.

by:

The 2 1/2 inch hitch plug I ordered is of a strong, thick, rubbery material. The order of the product was easy and arrived on time. The only improvement to the plug would be to extend the depth of the plug to the pin hole so it can be secured to the hitch.

by:

The 2.5" hitch plug was exactly as described it fit perfectly etrailer.com was the only that I could find that offered anything for the 2.5" receiver I have purchased from them before this purchase they have excellent products at excellent prices delivery is always on time and accurate I highly recommend etrailer and their products!

by:

The cap fits nice and snug in the 2.5" receiver and the all black cap does not stand out when in the receiver. The hitch cap is a good deal for the price and eTrailer was prompt with the delivery.

by:

Fits perfect into the 2 1/2” receiver hitch.
Fits
just snug enough to take out with a small screw driver but doesn’t come out when you go through a carwash!
Exactly what I have been looking for!
Etrailer always has what I’m looking for at a good price!

by:

order came in today and Carol knew it was delivered before I even checked! That's taking cars of business. Product was as advertised and is now keeping the receiver on my hitch from collecting debris.

Thanks so much--couldn't find these elsewhere.

by:

About the only 2.5 inch hitch plug I could find for my 2500 Sierra. Cleans up the hitch when I'm not towing anything. Snug fit but I bought two, car washes have a way of wiggling them out!

by:

I had a hard time finding this larger size cover.

It has worked out fine and was also very affordable.

by:

Great price. Snug fit to prevent water and debris from entering the hitch receiver. I was very happy to find someone that actually sold a cover for a 2 1/2" receiver, much less at such a reasonable price. Thanks.

by:

This hitch cover fit the rear receiver on our F250 excellently - snug enough to stay firmly in place yet not difficult to remove.

by:

Nice ! Fits like a glove

by:

I was skeptical when I first received this hitch cover (plug). Thought it might not stay in very well but honestly it has worked out great. Made of thick rubber & fit is tight. Extremely pleased!

  • Cover For 2-3/4" Square Pipe Cap
You can actually use exactly what you mentioned, a hitch cover, for your 2-3/4" square pipe. A cover for a 2-1/2" hitch will work, the Curt Rubber Hitch Cover for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # C22277. The face of the cover is 3-5/8" and the back where it extrudes is 2-1/2" so it will fit in and cover your pipe. It won't be a perfectly snug fit but since it's face up it'll rest right on the pipe. This would be the closest thing we offer to fitting a 2-3/4" square pipe.
