The Yakima HoldUp EVO is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions. You can quickly tilt or fold the rack with the KickStart foot pedal and easy-access tilt handle, saving time when accessing gear or loading bikes. The locking SpeedKnob makes installation and removal of the rack a painless process.
The HoldUp EVO is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.
To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in gray button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.
Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp EVO to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.
Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mark your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.
The wheel trays on the HoldUp EVO are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.
The HoldUp EVO has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.
The SpeedKnob makes the installation process fast and easy. Once you have the hitch pin in place, simply turn the knob to secure the rack within your hitch receiver. As you tighten the knob it activates the anti-rattle wedge within the rack's shank to reduce noise and movement of the rack while mounted. It also has a built-in SKS lock to keep the rack anchored in place, so you won't need to fumble around with a hitch lock.
The cable locks and SpeedKnob include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.
When you're ready to hit the road, the spring-loaded KickStart foot pedal at the base of the rack allows you to quickly position it for loading bikes. Simply step down on the pedal and lower the rack into position.
A spring-loaded lever conveniently located behind the bike trays tilts the rack down, while fully loaded, so you can gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without having to unload your bikes.
When you are ready to store the rack, use the same lever to easily fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull back on the lever and fold the rack up against your vehicle.
There is a 2-bike add-on available (Y02482 - sold separately) for the HoldUp EVO that will allow you convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. To install the add-on, simply remove the endcap from the bike rack base, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, and secure the shank with the included bolt.

Last winter during our trip back from Florida one one the vertical support arms snapped off at the base. Since Yakima has a one year warranty we were able to get a replacement part free. eEtrailer helped by providing a purchase receipt. We haul mountain bikes. A plus for etrailer customer support but I have my concerns for the long term use on this EVO rack for durability. My last Yakima bike rack lasted over 20 years.
Overall very impressed with quality of the bike rack. The only issue I have is with my long wheel base Fat bike. It wants to rock out of the front tire cradle because the back tire is past the rack and the weight of the bike pushes it rearward. To solve it I have to bungee the rear tire to the bike rack frame pulling it to the front. You can see the green bungee in my picture. This does not happen with my wife’s bike.
This is mounted on a 2016 Yukon. With the rack tipped pack you can lift the gate about 3/4 of the way to access the rear area.
Etrailer shipped super fast.
I assembled and installed the rack at a leisurely pace. It took a little while to get the spine bolt properly aligned, but once I got past that the rest of the installation went quickly. I’m guessing it was about half an hour from start to finish and a good bit of that was unpacking the rack and all its hardware. Mounting my beach cruiser was easy. I road-tested everything and I’m very happy with this purchase. The advice I got from Kyle at etrailer was excellent and follow up has been great.
Exactly what I was looking for. Yakima EVO rack appears to be durable/well built, rack was easy an install into my 2” hitch and holds my MTB (LG, 2.5” tires) and road bike (58cm, 30” tires) securely. I’ve used eTrailer for a few items over the years and I’ve always had a good experience with communication, shipments, and reasonable pricing. Additionally, I appreciate the linked install/instruction videos included with your products.
After one year of use on my Tesla Y, I still love the Yakima HoldUp EVO Bike Rack. I don't have an EVO bike, but a guy can dream, and I don't want to have to buy another rack in the future if that dream comes true. It's sturdy as all get-out and holds our bikes tight and a secure, like a teenager holds his prom-date's hand. I love that it tilts to let me access the rear hatch as opposed to having to break the rear window for access like I used to have to do with my old rack. The security cables could be a tad longer and you have to get clever about tucking them out of the way while loading your bike, but they're still a nice feature. Thankfully, Yakima lets you purchase matching locks for all their gear, so I now have a single key for my roof rack, kayak rack, bike rack, house, and car. The only drawback to the bike rack is that it has the weight and density of a black hole, but on the plus side, if you take it off or put it on your car, you can skip the gym for the week. I highly recommend it.
Product came in a timely manner. Instructions were clear and it took me about an hour to assemble and install, not counting getting out of the packaging. All parts were there.
I received the Yakima bike rack just yesterday so have not used it yet. I will be using the rack for a Giant eBike and a Trek roadbike. Everything in my dealings with etrailer was very smooth. I even received the shipment a day early. Brendan was very professional and good to work with. I would recommend etrailer for your bike rack needs.
Easy to install, holds my bikes well and I love I can get lift the back hatch with the bikes on.
Fast shipping easy to put together. Nice and tight in hitch 2". Loaded bikes on rack and fit with no problems 1 full suspension 29" tires and 1 with 26" wheels no problem adjusting rack. have not used yet will update after a couple of trips.

It is still holding up. Had a couple of issues that Yakima fixed. One was the rear tire holder fell off the pins that hold the holder were on recall. The other was the front tire holder the one that comes down the the tire. The shims that keep it from binding got stuck and cause the shims to break. Yakima fixed this as well. Over all love the bike rack. The best part is the wife can put her bike on the rack by herself with no problems. Do not have the 26 inch tire bike anymore. She got a 27.5 x 2.8 with full suspension and it fits no problem. Would recommend to others.
Have yet to install but wanted to comment on the great customer service. Initially was sent the wrong item. When I contacted the seller they immediately responded by sending the correct hitch and a prepaid return label. Additional, they lived up to their competitive price policy and gave me credit when I found the same item at a lower price.
Fantastic customer service.
Check back later for hitch review.

Vet pleased with the performance. We have made server all trips cross country We always take our bikes and ride wherever possible. This rack has served us well with no problems.
The products are good, ordering the parts were easy but the packaging was a little rough. I purchased a bike rack and two bearing buddy bras that they stuffed inside the rack box, need less to say they were crushed in shipping. The bra's are soft plastic and are still okay to use but the packing was wasted.

The Yakima rack is working out nicely, Its a bit heavy but very well built.
I have had this rack for 1 year and love it! It's extremely sturdy and my bikes are very stable when driving even over rough terrain. This is my second Yakima bike rack and have been very pleased with the brand. Yakima racks are easy to install, tighten and lock. I live in CA and George was very helpful when I purchased this rack - he provided me with shipping/delivery updates and made sure I was happy with my purchase.
Ordered early sat. Morn, didn't ship until late Wednesday, shipped ups, didn't get here until Tuesday evening 11 days later, says 3-5 day shipping
E-trailer 5 stars, product could be be better, it works, heavy,, should have told us about the fender (works better with out the fender), very stiff in moving up and down dbl. heavy with E-bike. If you have a back problem take it slow.
Very easy to assemble. Exceptionally built and holds two Rad Rover ST no problem. I remove the batteries to lessen the total weight. The rack is a beast. THANK YOU

Well a second arm broke. I replaced it and have sold the rack privately. Turns out this rack should not be on the back of a travel traveler. I bought a heavier duty bike rack from another manufacturer rated for travel trailers.
