The SwitchBack SOLO works in conjunction with your factory camera and monitor to ensure you can reverse safely and stay aware of your surroundings. Its standout feature is the automatic switching capability. The camera activates based on your tailgate position, seamlessly switching to the "down tailgate" camera when your tailgate is lowered. This clever feature guarantees you always have the correct view, with no buttons to press or programming required. Say goodbye to views of just the ground or your upside-down license plate.
The installation process is similar for all trucks and should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete. If any items on your tailgate, such as the remote tailgate lock, do not work before you install the SwitchBack SOLO camera, they will not work after the install. Be sure to check all tailgate functions before you start the installation.
For permanent installation, you will want to install the camera in the top cap of your tailgate. After removing the access panel and drilling a hole with the included drill bit, you can easily feed the camera wire through the base of your tailgate. The SOLO block and harness are then installed inside the tailgate by folding the attached mounting plate around the centermost rib, with the wires running through to emerge behind the bumper. Once you have all of the wires routed beneath the truck, you will disconnect your tailgate wiring from the truck and connect the included in-line harness between them. After everything is connected and tested, use the included wire ties to keep things neat and tucked under your truck.
If a less permanent option is what you need, the license plate tag frame easily installs using the hardware that is already holding the license plate on your truck. The SOLO block gets installed the same way in both options. The waterproof camera on the frame has a power and video wire that run behind the bumper and will connect to the inline harness. The entire frame can also be turned upside down for a wider field of vision. The attached camera can rotate 45 degrees by loosening the screw with the included wrench. After everything is connected and tested, use the included wire ties to keep things neat and tucked under your truck.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this BringIt SwitchBack SOLO Tailgate Camera. Now, this is designed to fit your 2015 to 2020 Ford F-150. And on custom fit parts such as this system, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. I do wanna let you know upfront that this product is not compatible with the 360 Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System or with digital cameras.
Now, this camera system is going to let you clearly see objects behind you as you drive in reverse with the tailgate down. As you know, rear cameras on our vehicles have become an essential feature that we depend on. However, most pickup trucks, that camera is right there in the tailgate where the handle is, so if you ever need to drive in reverse with that tailgate down for whatever reason, instead of seeing what's going on behind you, you're seeing what's going on below you instead. This system is going to tie into your factory backup camera, and then it's gonna automatically switch views when you put your tailgate down. Now, this is only going to work for you if you already have a factory backup camera in your truck, this does not add that functionality to your truck, just so you're aware of that.
This is going to be a relatively easy installation. It will require the temporary removal of your tailgate access panel to mount the SOLO block and harness. And this SOLO block actually houses the sensor that is going to detect the orientation of your tailgate. So when your tailgate is down, the sensor will detect that, and then activate the camera system. And then this inline harness is going to connect directly to your factory camera harness, so there's not going to be any need for an additional monitor.
So this is going to tie in seamlessly to your factory rear view camera on your F-150. Now, you can choose the view that's going to work best for you. For the best view that this camera system offers, that's going to be the top mount camera that you see there on the right hand side of your screen. That top mount camera installs into the top of your tailgate to allow you to safely back up when you're carrying longer loads. But if you don't wanna drill into your truck, then the license tag camera frame is going to be the option for you.
But the best view is going to come from the top mount camera. And again, as I mentioned, drilling is required, and to make this installation easier, this does include the drill bit necessary to drill into the top of your tailgate. And then once you have that hole made with that drill bit, then this is just going to drop into the top of your tailgate. So then when your tailgate is down, then that camera is going to see what's going on behind you. But again, the license plate option is also available if you don't wanna drill into your tailgate. The license plate frame does have these LED lights, and then the angle of the camera is also adjustable. Instructions are included to guide you through the installation process, go step by step with colored photos, which is great. So again, the installation's going to be very easy, and you're gonna be up and running with a secondary camera system in no time. So if you are looking for a camera system that's gonna let you clearly see what's going on behind you as you drive your F-150 in reverse with the tailgate down, this is going to be a great option for you to consider.
