The rack has dual arched arms that have a more stylish look when compared to racks with arms that slope straight up. They provide excellent support for your bikes and leave ample ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.
The arms can fold down, leaving a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.
To raise or lower an arm, loosen the plastic twist knob and slide the arm off the grooved section and onto the smooth, inner part of the tube. Rotate the arm to the desired position, slide it back onto the grooves, and tighten the knob back down to lock the arm in place.
Anti-sway cradles with ratchet straps hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has two straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact.
The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded. This means you won't have to remove the whole rack to access your cargo area for grocery runs and other errands.
To tilt the rack, pull the yellow handle on the base of the rack and lower the mast. When you're ready to go, just raise the mast back up. You will hear an audible click to confirm that the mast is locked in place.
The Bones Hitch is made of lightweight steel that weighs less than 16 lbs, making it one of the lightest racks on the market. To install it, slide the shank into your hitch, insert the hitch pin and tighten it down using a 3/4" wrench (sold separately). The hitch pin is threaded to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. A clip is also included to keep the pin in place.
You can install the rack in a 1-1/4" hitch or in a 2" hitch. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.
A cable lock and an anti-rattle hitch lock (sold separately) are available to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.
If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

These are descent bike holders, but I was disappointed in the fact that at speed, the bike closer to the vehicle will be pushed back (by the air) and rub against the other bike. My brand new bike now has a big bare spot in the paint, which made me pretty unhappy.
Mark - 02/20/2023I had a minor issue with an end cap on the rack's mounting bar. This problem was resolved by Saris.
It's a sturdy, well-built rack that arrived promptly and in good condition.
I like the bike rack; but the rack seems to be made more for bikes with cross bars; my wife's bike does not have one and its a challenge loading her bike securely to the straps on the rack. I also wish there was a quick disconnect of the rack from the hitch. The rack comes with a threaded bolt, nut and cotter pin. I also purchased the security lock that locks onto the threaded bolt. However I don't keep my rack on the car all the time. When I reach my destination by car I take the rack off and lock it into my trunk. Threading and unthreading the bolt is time consuming; A quick discount to and from the hitch would be ideal for those times I lock the rack in my trunk; which is most of the time.

Upon receiving my bike rack I spent a few minutes reading the manual and then went out to my garage to install it. It took minutes. After reading the manual I realized that I would require "straps" to keep the front tire in place during transportation. Overall I am happy with my purchase and quick delivery.

Seems like a good product so far. Easy installation. However I don’t like the plastic screws for the rack arms. The first rack I received was damaged due to poor packaging. The plastic screw was easily broken during shipment. However etrailer was very efficient and accommodating. They readily resolved the problem. They sent me a new rack immediately. Lastly, the bike sways a lot. You will need a cable to stabilize the front wheel.
THIS PRODUCT SUITS MY NEED FOR WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. HITCH MOUNTING IS VERY LOOSE IN THE FRAME MOUNT. HAD TO MAKE SHIMS TO ADJUST FIT. TILT IS ALSO VERY POORLY MADE. MORE SHIMING INVOLVED TO SECURE BETTER. COULD USE A STRAP TO HOLD FRONT TIRE TO UPRIGHT POLE. I HAD TO USE A NUMBER OF VELCRO STRAPPING TO MAKE ALL ADJUSMENTS. BOTTOM LINE.. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..
I have only had the Saris Bones Hitch rack for a week but it was simple to put together and attach to the hitch. The instructions were clear and I easily loaded my bike onto the rack. I have used it twice and I easily transported my bike to local trails to ride.
Very study and solid product. Easy to install and pull down when accessing the trunk. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it is a bit tricky to get the newer thicker middled mountain bikes inside the straps.
The Bones 2 bike rack is perfect for me ! It is easy to put together,very light weight , and the bikes fit well and secure on it . I have a bad shoulders and the other bike rack that I own is a four bike model . It is very heavy and I very seldom take more than another person with me . This Saris model is perfect and it meets al my needs .
We’ve used the bike rack on our Ford Edge several times. Sometimes with 1 bike & sometimes with 3. It’s been easy to use & has held up well. I would recommend it.

Seemingly well-constructed and supported bike rack. It fits my 2018 Toyota Camry SE just fine and I haven't had any issues with sway or even feeling my bike while driving. I've only carried one bike on it and have used it a limited number of times, so I cannot speak on durability and longevity. Although you shouldn't open your trunk while the rack is attached, I have been able to do so with no issue (without the bike attached).
While getting a bike rack for a sports car isn't ideal, I really wanted to transfer my bike with my own car instead of borrowing my friend's pickup truck. After hours of trying to find a bike rack that would be good for my 07 Mustang, I decided to give this one a try and I gotta say, it has been pretty good so far. It fits very well over the factory spoiler. One of my biggest concerns I was worried about when ordering a rack for my Mustang was ruining the paint, but the feet on the legs haven't left one scratch. I have used this to transfer my bike at freeway speeds (up to 80 mph) on car rides that typically last an hour and my bike was perfectly secure throughout each ride. For extra security, I wrapped both bike wheels with a ratchet strap so the wheels and pedals wouldn't shift in transit. So far, I am very pleased with this bike rack for the price and quality. I would highly recommend this if you want a rack that is affordable and durable.
Adam - 08/27/2020This is the first bike rack I have ever owned. The rack will be used primarily for me to transport my bike to training rides and triathlons. Occasionally, we will transport 1-3 additional bikes if my husband or sons want to go on a ride. In the past, I had to remove my front wheel in order to fit my bike inside my 2013 Toyota Highlander, and we weren't getting more than one bike in there. I went with the Saris based on the recommendation of a triathlon coach/mountain biker.
My husband and I mounted the rack onto the car without difficulty. It is easy enough to get on or off by myself, which is useful since we will not be leaving on the car permanently. Thankfully, with it mounted, and the arms folded down, my 2013 Highlander fits into the garage with no problem. One useful feature that I discovered is the ability to position the arms closer together for my shorter bike. I attached photos of the arms attached all the way wide, or a little narrower.
I noticed just a minor amount of movement of the rack while I drove, but it was mostly while I went through a construction zone that has a lot of bumps. Even then, it didn't seem unstable. Additionally, I used a small bungee cord to strap the front tire to the cross bar of the bike, to reduce the movement of that tire.
I would recommend the Saris Bones Hitch without reservation.
Clears the spoiler and keeps the bikes away from the car. I am totally thrilled that I bought this bike carrier.
Albert Y - 08/19/2019I wanted to take my bike to some trails and so this solved the problem! Pretty easy to attach to my car. So far, I’ve transported one bike with it on my 2017 Prius. The side straps don’t really have a place to hook on but I called for assistance and was told the side straps aren’t as essential as the top and bottom ones. I found a spot to attach the side straps just in case; but relied more on the top and bottom ones.
When we got to our destination, it did require a little work to remove the top hooks from my car. Haven’t taken it on a highway yet but it looks like it should be good!
Fits well on my 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Nice, well protected strap clamps for my mountain bike. I really like the two additional stabilizing clamps for the bike to prevent swaying. Light and strong rack. No rust possibility either. Bike holder extensions swing out of the way easily allowing garage door closure without removing rack.
