Availability of a Bike Rack to Fit a 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK Convertible

Question:

I have not attempted to buy a bike carrier for this car and have concerns because of the shape of the trunk. I did not read anything about any Mercedes cars.

I have a couple of options that will allow you the ability to carry a bike on your 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK Class.

I would take a look at the Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 Bike Trunk Carrier # HRF6-2. It is a good carrier that is a confirmed fit for your Mercedes-Benz. Many people are very happy with trunk carriers, but there is always a concern about paint damage.

The best option for your 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK is to have the Curt Class I Receiver Hitch, # C11815, installed and use a hanging bike rack. The Curt hitch is custom built to fit your vehicle and designed to bolt to the frame of your car. No welding will be necessary during installation.

Once the hitch is installed you will be able to mount a two bike hanging rack. I recommend the Saris Bones, # SA882. The Bones bike rack will allow to carry two bikes(Class I hitches are limited to carrying only two bikes) with a total weight capacity of 70 lbs. The bike rack only weighs 16 lbs and tilts away unloaded to allow access to the trunk of your vehicle.

Curt does require the use of a stabilization strap, like # 18050, when using non-towing accessories on this Class I hitch.
