Hi, everyone, Adam, with etrailer.com today, we're going to be taking a look at Swagmans options for hanging bike racks. Basically we have our Fold-it here and we have our Hang-it. We're going to see which one you guys think is going to be the best for you. Both are going to be able to hold one bike. One's going to be a vertical mount, and this one's going to be a horizontal mount. One thing that I did notice is that as you can see, we got four of the Hang-its over here, and it's going to take up the same amount of space as one horizontal mount. So depending on how many bikes you have, what kind of bikes you have and the amount of space you're working with, you're going to be able to answer those questions and pick the right one for you.
So we're going to load up the two same exact bikes. This is going to be a wheel mount. I don't know if you are favoring your wheels, and if you don't necessarily want to put all that stress on the wheels, maybe the vertical mount isn't for you. But, if you have the space and you don't mind hanging your bike from its frame, I do think the Fold-it is going to be your best bet, just because yes, it is going to be hanging out in the frame, but we do have rubber right here. So it's not really going to do any damage and this one actually folds up the other one is fixed. So whenever we are done and not using it, it's hardly going to use any space in your garage. So with our Hang-it here, we are going to have a fixed mount, which is always going to stick out about seven inches.
But with our Fold-it, we do have different options. We have about 14 and a half inches here. We can fold it up, fold it in, and that's going to break down to about an inch and a half.So a lot of you guys we're wondering if this is going to work with these smaller bikes we may have with the Fold-it. We do have a little bit of range here. It goes from about 10 inches to about 15 inches of spread with these hooks here.
So definitely just go ahead and measure your smaller bikes on the inside of this triangle here to see if it's going to fit. And when it comes to the Hang-it, honestly, almost everybody is going to fit on the hanger. It's just a wheel mount. It's just whether or not you want to put all that pressure on your wheels, or if it goes over that 35 pound weight rating, the hang it will be 35 pounds and the fold it will be about 45 pounds. So in my opinion, I would definitely like to see this in my garage, other than this fixed mounted, hang it just because first of all, we have more space. Our bike is hanging off a little bit farther off the wall, putting a lot of stress on my wheels.
This way we don't have near as much length on our wall. We don't necessarily have to worry about our wheels and it kind of looks kind of cool, you know, show off your bike. You know, a lot of people are really proud of their bikes. So I would definitely go with this and it's not fixed so we can just swing it up whenever we're not using it.So, one thing that's nice about this type of bike rack is we can actually grip it the same way and bring it over to our bike rack. So we don't have to change the grip on our bike to get it onto our rack. You don't have to deal with putting it on the ground and lifting it back up. It makes it all one simple, smooth movement. So fresh out of the box, everything's going to be assembled on the hang it. And we do have the included hardware. It's all we've got to do is find a spot and screwed in. So all we're going to need is just a Phillips bit here. So once we get it screwed into place, all we've got to do is hang our bike. Simple as that. The fold it will require a little bit of assembly, but literally it's just one screw here. We're going to put that into our top post and thread that in. And the only thing we really need to worry about is just making sure that it's going to be going this way as it will be folding down like that. Quite a bit of threads on this handle, but once you get it done, all we really need to do after that is just mount it onto our wall. So we do have our mounting hardware included. You just want to pick a good spot, sturdier the better. And I am going to start with this top screw here. And all we really need for this is just a Phillips bit. So now that we have our hanger up onto the wall, we can go ahead and put our bike up into place. So I'm going to take this out. We are using the Swagman XTC two, it's a platform style rack. So I'm actually going to be able to keep my same grip all the way from my bike rack all the way over to the wall. The one thing I did notice sometimes we have a little bit of tilt here. The cool thing about this is we're all going to be able to slide these hooks along the track, along with adjusting where our bike sits on it. So as you can see here, you just move it a little bit and that takes away that whole entire issue. So just to sum it all up for you guys, both of these hangers are going to get the job done. It's just, this depends on what your situation is, how many bikes you have and how much room you have in your garage or wherever you're putting it in. So in my opinion, both are going to get the job done. I would choose the fold it, but it's all up to you. Just go on each trailer.com and pick out one of your Swagman hanging racks today!.

This hanger lets you store 1 bike horizontally on the wall of your garage, basement, or office. Foam-covered arms gently cradle your bike's top tube. Fold the arms up against the wall to save space when not in use. Mounting hardware included.Excellent product, and even BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE! Purchased two units, first one was fine, the second unit knob would not go into the tube mount on the wall. Sent an e-mail to company, got a response in an hour, and they SHIPPED ME A REPLACEMENT THE SAME DAY! Also provide a UPS shipping label to return the defective unit. I had no less than three different folks contact me about the replacement. Got it today, and it's on the wall working fine. These people not only make a quality product at a reasonable price (both units are well built and look like they will last a lifetime), but they stand behind their product and obviously care about their customers. I wish every business operated like these folks do! Top Shelf!
