Recommended Hanging Bike Rack for a 2017 Mazda 6
Question:
Hello Entrailer Team, I just purchased the trailer hitch assembly for my car from your website. I now need a trailer hitch rack that will fit my car. I want a hitch rack that fits 2 bikes and will lock to the rack. I have been looking at Thule Vertex, I am just not sure it will fit my 2017 Mazda 6 car. Will this fit my car with my bikes? IF NOT, what can you recommend for my car? Thank you.

I looked at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11356 that you have installed on your 2017 Mazda 6 and compared that to the Thule Apex 2 Bike Rack part # TH9024XT. The opening of the hitch which is 1-1/4" and size of the shank which is also 1-1/4" will fit into one another however, the folding mechanism of the rack has the potential to interfere with the rear bumper due to the recessed hitch pin hole. Therefore, I do not recommend using this rack on your vehicle.
Instead, I recommend the Saris Bones Hitch 2 Bike Rack part # SA882. This rack has an extended shank which will have no issue clearing the rear bumper on your Mazda 6. It also has anti-sway cradles and a tilting design like the Thule Vertex. It does not come with locks but you can add them using part # SA3022 for the rack and part # SA981 for the bikes.
I have attached a review video of this rack for you as well so you can see all of its features.
