Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 4" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. Roadmaster's High-Low Drops will provide you with the necessary drop; simply flip the accessory over to achieve desired rise.

Video Transcript for Review of Roadmaster Hitch Adapters - High-Low Adapter - RM57MR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Roadmaster high-low adapter. Now, this is going to slide into your 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch trailer hitch receiver on your RV and it's going to accept your two inch tow bar shank. So this is going to allow you to position your tow bar in a proper height to make sure everything's riding level. So this is gonna help make up any difference that you have between your RV's hitch and your towed vehicle's baseplate. So when you're towing or flat towing your vehicle, it is very important that your tow bar be pretty close to level.

So the easiest way to make sure so that you're gonna be within that safe range is to measure from the center of your receiver tube on your RV and then measure from that down to the ground and then on your baseplates on your vehicle measure from the center of the baseplates down to the ground. See what the difference is between those numbers. You wanna be within about three inches plus or minus equal so you wanna make sure that you're sitting right within that range. If you're more than that three inches, that's where a rise-drop like this is gonna help make sure that you can be within that range, make sure everything's right and safe so you're not gonna have as much strain on your components. It can be used either in the drop position like we have here, so it will give you a two inch drop, or you can flip it over, use it in the rise position, give you a two inch rise.

So depending on what you need for your setup, very simple to maneuver around. This is made here in the USA of a sturdy steel construction. It's gonna provide a gross towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds and a gross tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds. Now, because that tongue weight capacity is so low, this really isn't designed to tow a trailer. So it is just designed for flat towing applications.

Your tow bar is not gonna have as much tongue weight as a trailer would. So keep that in mind, make sure you're using it for the correct application. But that steel construction does have this powder coat finish that's gonna help resist corrosion. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty so you can trust if you were to have any issues, you can reach out to us. You can see we are gonna have a 5/8 inch diameter pinhole here to connect to the receiver tube on your RV.

And then again, a 5/8 inch pinhole there for your tow bar. Make sure that that stays in there. Not gonna wiggle its way out. This does not come with pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those are sold separately. You can find several different options available here at etrailer.com. Just to give you some extra reassurance that this is gonna work for your application, you can see from the center of one hitch pinhole to the center of the other, we're looking at right about 8-3/4 of an inch. Our overall length, if I get out my tape measure here, we're looking at an overall length of about 13-1/2 inches. So if you are needing to have a two inch rise or drop to make sure that your tow bar is gonna be level with your baseplates, this is gonna be a great way to go. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
