Hey guys, Kevin here at etrailer. And today we'll be showing you how to install the Reese Fifth Wheel Adapter, here on our 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty. So, if you recently upgraded your truck but you still have your standard base rail style fifth wheel hitch. And you wanna be able to use that in your newer truck, that has a Ford prep package. Here is what you're gonna need. This adapter drops right down into your pucks and then provides slots for your fifth wheel hitch to fit in.
So, a few measurements that people tend to want to know is, exactly how high this is going to sit And then also, what's the distance between the back of this to the front of our bed So, right now I'll give you that measurement. From the outer edge of the back part of our adapter up to the bed, it's gonna be roughly 25 inches. And then for the actual height from the bed up to the top of our adapter here is gonna be 3 1/4 inches. And what that's gonna do is, add on some additional height to your hitch. So, you're gonna need to take that into account whenever you're setting the hitch head height.
So, as far as installation goes this is gonna be a super easy install that you can easily do at home. It's not gonna require any extra tools as it's gonna come with a wrench to help you tighten down your jam nut and just dropping it straight up into your puck system inside of your truck. So, like I said, super simple to do. You can easily do it at home. So, to be in our installation, we're gonna have to first put in our feet onto our adapter rail.
To do that, your kit is gonna come with two packs. In each pack, there's gonna be two handles, a wrench, your anchor bushings, your T-pins, two jam nuts, end caps for the sides of your rails. And then also some pins that are gonna hold your handles in place. So, to begin, we are going to first stick on our anchor bushing. It's only gonna go one way, 'cause each side of this is flat.
So, we'll slide that in. We're gonna put on our jam nut, and we'll tighten that down. And we're gonna keep tightening this down, until there's no play in it. You don't wanna be able to move that. So, like right now I have play. And if you need to. If it's getting too tight by hand you can go ahead and start using the wrench. But once we have that play all gone we're gonna go ahead and turn this one more quarter turn and then we can move on to our next one. So, now we're gonna go ahead and take our T-pin and our handle, we'll place our T-pin up through our bushing. And then we're just gonna thread that into our handle and the way you wanna position your handle, so that the locking side is gonna be coming out away from the center of the truck. So, I'll start getting that threaded in. So, we're gonna go ahead and we'll just get this hand tight. And actually it lined up perfectly because we're gonna be sticking one of our locking pins through the castle nut here, and there's a hole inside of our T-pin. And we're gonna stick that right through that. If it didn't line up for you perfectly, you would just back off that T-pin just a little bit to get it in there. We'll go ahead. We'll stick our pin in and that's gonna prevent our handle from being able to come off. So, now we're gonna go ahead and do the same thing with our other side here. So, right here, I got this one tight, just hand tight. And as you can see, we don't have our hole there. So, I'm gonna go ahead and I'm just gonna back it up just enough to where we have that hole for our locking pin to go through. And then we can go ahead and push our handle through. And if you already had this in your truck you'd wanna go ahead and put your locking pin on like that. And that's gonna keep your handles from moving around. Last step's gonna be taking these two caps that you're gonna have and just popping 'em into place. And once you have that done, we're gonna repeat the same process over on the other side. So, now we're gonna go ahead and throw this in the bed of the truck. I'm gonna pull my pin and I'm gonna pull my handles facing towards the center of our adapter here. That's gonna have our feet lining up perfectly, so that they can drop right down in the puck system. So, now we're gonna go ahead and we'll set our pucks in. So, as you can see, we had to do a little bit of minor adjustment. I can only get this handle in right now, 'cause I dropped our T-pin down just a little bit. So, this is gonna vary depending on your truck. Not every single one's gonna fit just perfectly with how we tighten it to begin with. So, here's where you're gonna have to do a little bit of modification. We're gonna pull this back up and we'll keep loosening up our T-pin. So, put it back in the closed position, so that we can get our lock pin out and then we'll just keep loosening that up until we get it just enough to match up with our puck. So, I've loosened up my T-nut enough to get my handles easily slide in and out. In our pucks, the main thing here is that, you don't wanna loosen it too much. You shouldn't have any play with it. So, when I'm trying to pull on this I'm not getting any jiggle at all between the adapter and the puck. So, we know we got it set to the right thing. So, I'm gonna move over to the other side and loosen those up a bit, so that we can get our handles locked. Now, with our handles in place and locked with our pucks, we're gonna go ahead and throw our locking pin in. We'll just slide that through and push down our ring, and that's gonna prevent our handles from being able to pull out and loosen out of the puck. So, now with our handles locked in place, we can go ahead and throw on our fifth wheel hitch that fits ISR Rails. Well, I think that about does it for today's installation of the Reese Fifth Wheel Adapter, here on our 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty. My name is Kevin. Thanks for watching..
The hitch look good but I have yet to try
Instructions are little bit lacking
I had to call etrailer they decided
I should call Reese which I did
They had my problems handles in a very short time
Thanks again for all you help
Needed a hitch for new fifthwheel and also have short bed truck so also needed a way to make harder turns mostly when backing up not on the road. Has worked well with the exception of the slide option it has never worked with weight on it. I’ve had to use camper jacks to raise and remove weight just to activate and slide every time. Takes a lot of time. Think release bar should be built stronger. And with that exception works great
The Reese assembly instructions were clear and assembly was pretty straight forward until I went to mount the center section on top of the slide rails. The uprights for the slide rails had a large metal bur from the manufacturing process that hindered the U channels on the center section from going down. I also discovered that the center section U channels were bent in and the holes on one side were drilled crooked. I contacted ETrailer.com customer service and they quickly sent me a new center section and return shipping tag for the defective part. The replacement part arrived quickly and assembly was much easier with the new parts. Reese manufacturing quality is average at best but the ETrailer.com customer service is Excellent. Thank you ETrailer.com for helping resolve my issue timely and without hassle!
This is my first 5th wheel hitch. It was purchased to pull my 31ft. Heartland Sundance with my 2017 Ford F250. When delivered it was in several heavy boxes but assembly was very easy with simple hand tools. The videos of the assembly and placement of the hitch were very helpful. Pros easy installation into truck bed, easy to use, heavy duty and well built. Cons I haven't found any!
Nice hitch, went togeather fairly easy. Etrailer was very fast on shipping. Only towed about 30 miles with no problems. On the down side when I removed the hitch for winter only the head removes from the hitch assembly. The sliders and the cross members (one piece unless you unbolt them) are very heavy to remove from the truck bed.
i wan't to thank pat c at etrailer for my new 5th wheel trailer hitch and keeping me up to date with emails and good price thanks
This product is extremely well built and fits the truck perfectly. The custom mounts require no drilling and are very stout. I pulled my 16K lb. toyhauler 300 miles this weekend and the hitch worked flawless. I highly recommend this product and etrailer delivered the hitch within 4 days.
Sandy j was a great help. There so many choices. Told her the whole story (truck, trailer and we planned to do. She really took the time to find the right products and is very knowledgeable on all your products. Shipping was quick and packaging was great. I assembled and installed and this purchase was the right one for my app. Thank sandy j
The kit went together as described. The instructions of the 5th wheel hitch were ok. Kind of had to read between the lines a little. Overall satisfied with my purchase. Its a good product.
Shipped and received as promised. The Reese 5th wheel Hitch and hardware were in perfect condition with no issues. I'm in the process of installing it on my 2013 Ford. I expect no problems. Great price, with no shipping costs or tax paid.
One year later and still very happy with my hitch. Have had no issues at all with its performance. It performs just as advertised and again, great service from etrailer.
I always enjoy using etrailer. Price was a lot lower than I could find locally. Hitch arrived on time. I needed some support for part of the install and they were top notch. Hitch worked as intended and install was smooth. Hitch was used for a 3+ hour trip and it worked great.
This hitch was delivered within 3 days, even using the free ship option. Awesome! I had the rails already bolted in my F350, so the slider and head installation went smoothly with the enclosed instructions. Stout head, and I love the round sliders. Can't wait to hitch up my 12k lbs and drag her up and down the roads around here!
Received the products earlier than expected. Everything was in excellent condition, not even a damaged box. Lori was great to work with, and in a subsequent call, Madison was also great. So far, very happy with my purchases. Will review again after putting on a few miles. Seems like a very reliable company to deal with!
Arrived earlier than expected, everything was boxed accordingly and was mounted in truck within 45 minutes. It was almost too easy, my wife was expecting a little more fuss!
I cannot thank George P and Ms. Kathy enough, they shipped out my order sooner than expected. They will always be the first place I go for trailer parts. two thumbs up!!!!!!!

Excellent price, very speedy delivery, and wonderful customer service. Highly recommend this company. Installation was a breeze. I saved about $800 over camping world's installed price quote.
Great heavy duty hitch, instrutions very good. Had hitch put together in 30 minutes. This was my 3rd order from etariler and just as always great service and fast shipping.
Awesome heavy duty hitch. Rail kit was an exact fit for my 2018 Ford F350 Superduty.
Great hitch works like a champ. Great service from etrailer.
This hitch has served my needs very well. No issues at all. I love the single jaw self latching design.
Easy to install, excellent instructions. Connects well, very happy with this hitch.
Hitch arrived in less than time estimated. It was not too difficult to assemble, has good instructions. It is somewhat heavier than the one replaced but old one was only 15,000 lbs. Works as advertised and is much easier to slide than old one even when new. good product.
This is a great hitch. I have had no problems at all with it.
