Solution for Fifth Wheel that is to Tall When at its Shortest Setting for Level Trailer

Question:

I have a 2015 Ram 2500 with factory tow package. I purchased a Curt base Model # 16022 and curt sliding fifth wheel Q24 for previous rv. I purchased a new 26ft flagstaff much smaller and front of rv is way to high. Top of fifth wheel in bed is 19 inches I need to lower about 5 inches its already at the lowest setting. What are my options to get king pin 5-6 inches lower ?

The # C16022 does add a few inches to the height of a fifth wheel hitch. Typically you can raise the pin box of the trailer higher up into the trailer frame which will allow a taller fifth wheel hitch to fit. You do want to be sure you have at least 6 inches of clearance between the bedrails of the truck and the overhang of the trailer.

It doesn't help that the Q24 is one of the tallest fifth wheel hitches on the market. For a shorter hitch that would work great the Reese Select Plus part # RP30083 would be a great choice. This hitch is about 3 inches shorter in it's lowest setting.
