What is the Measurement from the Center to Back edge of Rear Rail on Curt X5 Adapter
Question:
I am looking to get a Curt Fifth Wheel Adapter Plate for my 2013 3500HD Crew Cab Short Bed truck with a BandW turnover hitch. I have an existing fifth wheel hitch but I am concerned with cab clearance. Can you please provide the dimensions for the adapter from pin to rear edge? Is the pin centered or is there a slight offset?

Expert Reply:
The shaft that fits in the gooseneck hitch on the Curt X5 adapter, # 16310, is centered between the 2 5th wheel rails. If you were to measure from the center of that shaft to the rear edge of the back rail or to the front edge of the front rail it would be approximately 14 inches.
If clearance is an issue you are able to use this adapter with a sliding 5th wheel trailer hitch. If you need a sliding 5th wheel hitch I recommend one with 12 inches of travel, the most available from a slider. There is a 16K option, # RP30075, and a 20K option, # RP30083.
