For your 2008 Ram Quad Cab, I would recommend the Reese Custom Install Kit, part # RP50040-58 which is compatible with all but the Mega Cab model. The custom install kit takes about half the time to install as the # RP30035-023, and would require no drilling into the frame to install.

Because you have the short bed, you will need a sliding fifth wheel hitch unless your fifth wheel is fitted with a Sidewinder. The Reese # RP30083 is the sliding version of the # RP30081 you referenced. The RP30083 features a single wrap-around jaw that holds the fifth wheel king pin very tightly and securely, greatly reducing chucking. The round tube slider operates very smoothly and is much less likely to bind than the square tube sliders.
