What Normally Causes Jerking Feeling When Towing Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
My wife just recently acquired a new 2 horse gooseneck trailer. It is 22 feet long with a weekend package on the front. I pulled it to the tire shop the other day for new tires with my 2004 dodge 2500 long bed and pulled great. We picked it up with her 2003 f 250 short bed and it is jerking front to back it feels like with her truck. What can cause this and what can be done to correct this problem.

Is this a gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer? Normally a horse trailer is a gooseneck trailer but you referenced a fifth wheel hitch. If it is a fifth wheel setup are you using the same hitch in the bed of both trucks? Some hitches are more known for allowing more movement than others like the Pro Series # PS30129 that you referenced. The slide bar for the hitch jaw allows quite a bit of movement whereas a hitch like the Reese Select Plus part # RP30083 has a much tighter jaw design that won't allow near as much movement which then transfers into the jerking feeling you mentioned.
