Recommended Supplementary Transmission Cooler for 2005 Nissan Frontier
Question:
Can I use one if your coolers as a stand alone cooler? I have 2005 Nissan Frontier and the factory cooler is prone to leak causing major damage to transmission! I would like to eliminate factory cooler completely!

The Derale transmission coolers we offer are intended to be supplements to the OEM coolers already installed in a passenger vehicle. In your case with a Nissan vehicle that has one of those troublesome leaking coolers (that could allow engine coolant into your transmission!) you'll really be better off replacing the radiator. If you feel you still need additional transmission cooling then you can install an add-on supplementary cooler like the Derale # D13502.
You can install as large a cooler as you have room to mount it. Coolers are not vehicle-specific so a larger Class III cooler like the Derale # D13502 is a good choice.
We do offer fan-powered remote transmission coolers like the Derale Atomic Cool # D15450 which provide cooling continuously, no matter your driving speed. But unless you can get someone from Nissan to confirm this kind of cooler is enough all by itself I would get a new radiator and then add cooler # D13502 if you find the need.
At one time Nissan offered extended warranty coverage for this very issue so it might be worth your time to check with your local dealership to see if they can offer you any consideration on the defective radiator.
