The box arrived opened and damaged. My wiring harness was missing. When I called to tell them my wiring harness was missing they told me that it was shipping separately but could not tell me when it would arrive. I later got an email telling me all of my items were delivered and asked me to leave a review. I still don't have my wiring harness and will not have the hitch installed by this weekend like needed because I don't know if I am ever getting my wiring harness.not to mention the box had no padding around the hitch so it's all scratched up.

I am sorry to hear that your order arrived in this condition. I see that our customer service department is currently working on a solution for you.

by:

Worked exactly how described, great replacement for my risty only bracket and 7 pin connector. Fits my 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD perfect, plug and play. Bought specifically because the bracket is included. And with both 4 and 7 pin connectors, I don't have to use an adapter anymore!

by:

I am not sure how this bracket passed quality control. It sure is a good thing I'm not planning on using it. Really disappointing to see how quality is overlooked during the packaging process. This should have never left in this condition.

This company is an absolute pleasure to work with. Item was delivered fast and exactly as described. This is the second item I’ve bout from etrailer the first being a 9000lb rated hitch. Will order again from these folks when if I need stuff for my truck.

One year later and no issues

by:

It was easy to install and took care of the issue I had of one of the trailer light segments not working.

by:

This connector and bracket is a great product giving both 7 pin and 4 pin connections. I was able to reverse the bracket (making new holes) to allow it to fit behind the bumper cover piece that hides the hitch when not in use. The only drawback is that a wiring harness that fits the round 7 pin to the Buick Enclave rectangle plug is not available as a separate purchase. Had to buy an additional 7 pin outlet that came with the correct plug assembly and use that for my combo plug.

by:

took longer to remove the factory cover than to instal the connector. worked as advertised. I would buy this again if ever needed

by:

This thing couldn't be better. Easy mounting. Plug and play. I can now connect any trailer I want. Love it, love it, love it!

This was a major upgrade for me at the time. A year later, Ive hauled massive loads across the country, and this connector harness works perfectly every time

by:

I bought this because I needed the bracket and it was the quickest way to get it they do not stock the bracket alone. We where installing tommy lifts and needed t move the original connector which was installed on the bumper.

by:

Plug and play baby! 2 minute install. Finally an easy fix to something!

2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Here's some snaps of my Hopkins #40975 installation. I can confirm that it's an identical replacement for the 2014 Silverado 1500 trailer-light blank insert, no bracket required. It took me 30 seconds to plug the Silverado's OEM 7-pin round connector (located inside the blank insert) into the #40975 Wiring Kit and snap it into the cutout. Then I tested the flat 4-pin outlet of the #40975 with a 5 dollar 4-pin LED tester from West Marine, and all light functions tested good. Shweet! To remove the OEM blank plug, it helps to reach behind it and pinch the two spring clips holding it in place... same with the #40975 if it needs to be removed for some reason. When I ordered the part from eTrailer, your site had a comment, "This will not fit your vehicle. See below for compatible parts," or words to that effect. Maybe take a look at that and remove the comment, as the #40975 is an exact fit for 2014 Silverado 1500, no bracket needed. Thanks, eTrailer team!

Although I havent towed since installing the Hopkins Pollak wiring kit since I installed it a year ago, I have tested the 4-pin connector for proper function using a 4-pin LED tester from West Marine and it checks out okay. Recently I inspected the kit for water intrusion mentioned by one of the raters, and I found no evidence of moisture inside the dual-connector compartment. On installation, I did make liberal use of the dielectric grease that accompanies the kit. Good product, easy installation, and great price.

It came with it's own bracket, which is a plus. It was compatible with etrailer.com's part number C56357, which is also a plus. The self tapping screws being the only hardware coming with the item was a disappointment. I just installed etrailer.com's part number 76301 hitch receiver which has a mounting plate for brackets like this. The self tapping screws, which might have been effective, wouldn't have looked "professional." After finding some hardware which worked, it went on smoothly and fits well with the rest of the assembly.

2015 Audi Q7

Scratched my head for a while, trying to find a quality way to connect this vehicle end 4/7 wire socket to my trailer ready (almost) 2015 Audi Q7. Finally decided that it really didn’t need to be bolted, but could be hose clamped to the existing heavy duty Audi bracket.

Mounted it sideways with a 1” diameter and a 3” diameter hose clamp. Be sure to use a 3” clamp with lots of serrations that all it to tighten it down a lot.

You’ll need to drill out the small hole of the supplied bracket to allow a clamp to fit through it. The other hole is a slot, and works unaltered. Small clamp on bottom, large clamp on top.

You’ll also need to relieve a small spot on the trim piece to make room for the 4-wire door to o-en freely. This is marked as red on one of the pictures.

Looks good and should work good!

7 and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket does not fit my towing vehicle.

Today I just received my etrailer order #114979486, that consisted of: Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector (ITEM # C56431) and 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End (ITEM # HM40975) for my 2020 Ford Ranger. I easily installed the harness, but the Trailer Connector Socket does not seem to fit on the rear bumper, next to the license plate.

Last week, I chatted with etrailer customer support rep and I was assured that the connector Socket (ITEM # HM40975) would fit on my 2020 Ford Ranger.

This etrailer customer support representative referenced a previous Q&A Topic titled, "Can the HM40975 be used on a 2021 Ford Ranger". I was also assured that 2020 and 2021 Rangers have identically constructed rear bumpers.

Today, I spoke with a different etrailer customer support representative. This rep told me 7-Way Trailer Connector (ITEM # C56431) was not compatible with the 2020 Ford Ranger recommend reaching out to the manufacturer directly for more information.

I'm very frustrated!!!! Can I please get a solution to this issue ASAP.

I am sorry that this has been a frustrating experience, however I do have an answer for you. The Hopkins connector part # HM40975 is technically not a fit on its own for a 2020 Ford Ranger. The short reason why is that the Ford Rangers do not have the round US Carr type of connector to plug into. Now by adding the Curt harness part # C56431 like you did, does make that round connector that you can plug into the back of the Hopkins connector that will give you the 7 and 4 way you want. Since it is using two different manufacturer products together, I do encourage you to test the 4 and 7 way to make sure all the signals are working correctly. In theory they work together, however they are not tested. The issue is going to be that the bracket that comes with the Hopkins connector is not going to match with anything on the Ford Ranger to connect to. It would just be bolted to the bumper or you could also consider using part # C57202 to install it on your hitch.

A very good option to cut down on rattle. This is a durable product that is fairly simple to install. My only complaint is the magnet to keep cover closed when not towing should be stronger. I am happy with the purchase and it looks like it will be useable for years.

  • Compatibility of Hopkins HM40975 For In-Bed Installation on 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500
The Hopkins # HM40975 is actually the same part GM uses as the OEM in-bed trailer connector, so it will replace the blank installed in the bed of your truck. The # HM40975 would indeed be compatible with a wiring harness like the Curt # C56070 you'd mentioned, so everything would indeed work together.
