Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Easy instructions, easy install.

After a year the wiring harness is doing fine. Mo corrosion on metal parts or cracking on the wire itself.

by:
2009 FordFlex

Description was perfect, delivery was early and the harness installed just as easy as the video showed it.

by:

Installation was straight forward and not overly complicated. The hitch itself is very beefy indeed. The plug-n-play wiring for the lights was very simple as well

Easy to install and works great! The etrailer support video was very helpful.

Photos of our T-one wiring harness install this afternoon on our 2012 Ford Flex. Should be comprehensive, but I have a few other photos.

I ziptied to the factory harness where I could, and had to clip the last one of your zipties to get enough slack. Ground wire unzipped a little. Drilled & Dremel'd off the finish, then used "Noalox" between the ring terminal & body, then sealed with caulk. I will add some split-loom later where the trailer plug wiring goes into the backside of the tow bumper. I added electrical tape to the green wire (not shown in photos), and any other place I thought might rub. 4-pin connector just wedged into the factory slot.

Easy peasy to install.

Overall good product, work as intended. Only thing I would change is the ground eyelet. Im not drilling into tge body of my car for a rust area later in it's life. I added a larger eyelet and put the ground on the hitch mount bolt.

The easiest wire kit to install. Had my 7 year son hook it up for me.
Thanks again. Will order next hitch and wire harness, will tell friends and family about them.

Good directions and easy to install. Works great.

by:

The product was basically easy to install. Would recommend some help with the tow hitch installation; lifing the tow hitch and lining up the bolts is difficult to do by myself. The Videos on the etailer website made installation easy to understand.

Easy to follow installation instructions and product works well.

The product itself was fine, the 1 star review is for etrailer itself. Took over a week to receive my order from the time it was placed. Had I known I would be waiting that long I would've just ordered from [online]. Once I finally received my order my hitch was thrown into a box that was way too big for it along with the wiring harness I ordered smashed under the hitch inside the box. No protective packaging of any sort, just 2 items haphazardly thrown into a huge box to bounce around across the country. Wiring harness was still usable but the packaging and instructions were crushed and destroyed as well as my hitch arrived slightly bent and had several large chips in the powder coating. Needless to say I believe this will be my first and last order from etrailer.

by:

Fast shipping and you get the order right. Excellent boxing

by:

I was DESPERATE and someone recommended etrailer. I had my hitch and wiring ordered and received in less than 24 hours! I am now in the midst of my move thanks to their help. Greg also double checked that I had the right equipment ordered for my vehicle. I am so thankful!

Plug and play vey nice

by:

I chose to install the wiring harness first. It was designed to fit the existing vehicle harness with a couple of perfectly fitting sockets Routing was easy and used my personal choice for securing. The hitch was obviously designed for strength and durability with good powder coat paint and faultless welds. Installation was simple but for me I needed two more hands to lift and hold in place until the four bolts were secure. I do not foresee any problems in the years ahead. The pricing was good and free shipping was appreciated. All contacts with etrailer were professional and knowledgeable.

Installed along with my trailer hitch. This is a pull and play harness which requires no cutting and installs in series with your factory connection and your rear light module.

the plug and play to wiring is fantastic. I have had two vehicles now there I have been able to install in series wiring for towing behind my RV and a tow bar without having to cut in to any wiring

I will share with you that the product your company supplied has worked for me. The hardest part was getting the covers removed from my Flex, but got that done. The lights have worked every time since install. Thank you for the follow up. I would order products from your co. again if I have a need and would tell my friends or family about my experience.

I have not installed the hitch or the wiring harness as of this date. I will do so very soon. My experience with the list hitch I installed went very well.

Wonderful product. Excellent customer service. From the product descriptions in the beginning, the installation instructions and the personalized follow up, working with etrailer.com is what you expect from a top-notch company. I will note, however, that the installation is not a one-man job. An extra set of hands would of come in helpful. I used a set of jack stands and my vehicle jack to improvise and to help lift the hitch into position until I could get a bolt to catch. After that it was all a breeze as the hitch utilized existing holes on the frame. No drilling! Even the wiring was made simple and fool proof. I would definitely use this company and product again.

by:
FordFlex

I did not want to "chop up" the lighting wiring on my Flex when I got my trailer, so I looked around for a solution. etrailer had the exact kit I needed to wire up my trailer connector, so I purchased and installed it myself. Each part fit where it needed to, and the end result worked just as it should. I probably went a little overboard to get the crossover wiring tucked up out of the way (I removed the rear bumper to tie the wires up across the subframe).

by:
2012 FordFlex

My issue may have been rare, but after very difficult install, mostly due to challenges routing the wiring under a Ford Flex. The unit caused my Ford Flex to hyper-flash when connected to two different, very simple trailer light systems with minimal electrical loads. Connecting to a trailer made my Ford Flex turn signals flash very rapidly as if there were a bulb out. Etrailer helped me identify a substitute harness with powered converter that solved the problem, but it was no fun installing, uninstalling, shipping back, then ordering and reinstalling two different wiring harnesses for something as simple as a two light trailer. I hope that in the future compatibility issues will be identified by etrailer ahead of time so customers are aware of potential problems before purchasing potentially incompatible parts. Again, my case may have been the exception, but it was annoying. To be safe, when in doubt install a system with a powered converter, even though this requires sometimes difficult wiring directly to the car battery.

by:

This wiring harness worked perfectly for my Ford Flex. Fishing the wires down through the bodywork was a challenge, but once the job was done it functioned perfectly and allowed me to tow a trailer that I rented. Hopefully, the harness will pass the test of time. I haven’t used it again, but the installation is neat and seems weather resistant. Overall, a very useful product for a good price.

  • What Does Wire Loom of Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Kit # 118472 Install into on 2011 Ford Flex
The plastic wire loom that our installer attaches in the install video for the Tekonsha trailer wiring kit part # 118472 is getting attached to the trunk floor. I'd rather recommend you use a stainless steel screw for this instead of a zinc plated one since stainless is better at fighting corrosion.

I suggest a weight distribution system that has sway control. To choose the correct system you'll need the tongue weight of your loaded and ready to tow trailer added to the amount of gear in the Ford Flex behind its rear axle. A trailer's tongue weight should fall within about 10 to 15 percent of its total weight. The best way to determine your trailer's tongue weight is to use a scale # e99044.
