Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2013 Ford Flex with Dual Exhaust
Question:
Do you sell a trailer hitch for 5000lb

There are trailer hitches available for the 2013 Ford Flex with dual exhaust but they are not rated for 5,000 lbs. The trailer hitches for the Ford Flex with dual exhaust are both rated for 4,000 lbs. The hitches are designed to fit around the dual exhaust system which could be why their rating is a bit lower. It is a good idea to check the owner's manual for how much the vehicle itself is rated to tow because it may be under what either hitch is rated for.
I recommend Draw-Tite part # 75679 because the installation time is estimated as 10 minutes shorter than the Curt hitch available. I have attached an installation video of the Draw-Tite hitch for you.
If the Flex does not have a factory towing package on it, the Tekonsha 4-way wiring part # 118472 is the best option. Tekonsha is the best option because it can handle 7.5 amps per circuit compared to the Curt that can handle 6 amps per circuit.
If your Flex has a factory towing package there should already be a 7-way plug on the back of the vehicle. If there is not a 7-way plug already at the rear bumper of the Flex, you can use part # 74682 to plug into the OEM towing package.
If you plan on towing a trailer, you need a ball mount. Before you can purchase a ball mount you need to know what rise or drop you need to tow level with your trailer. Since the Ford Flex sits closer to the ground, you most likely need a ball mount with a rise. You can figure how much rise by measuring from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch. Then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler of your trailer. Subtract the hitch receiver measurement from the trailer measurement. That number is the amount of rise you need. I have attached a help article about measuring for rise or drop.
