Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, attach the included fuse holder to the positive terminal on the truck's battery. Then locate the truck's power wire on the driver's side of the engine compartment, and plug the fuse holder into the matching connector on the power wire.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Timely shipping, Great product,Fair price. Excellent service. A pleasure to do business with.

by:

Fit perfectly, easy install. Fixed my problem.

by:

After tons of problems and hours of install, troubleshooting and repairs to my previous trailer and truck wiring, I finally ordered the exact fit 'plug and play' version of the wiring kit to replace the splice-in type from local auto parts store. It took about 15min. total to install in the dark. Where instructions were slightly too brief, etrailers website video clarified. Lights on trailer are brighter than they've ever been, previous bad grounding problem is solved and I'm looking forward to the fuse protected circuit saving me from buying more replacement converters in the future.

by:

Why is it when I order a 50lb hitch, I receive it in world class 1 day time. When I order 1/2 lb wiring harness it takes longer than the pony express 8 day time. Products have always been first class and shipping usually is first class as long as the wiring is ordered with the hitch.

by:

Quick shipping. Easy installation. Haven't had a chance to use it with a trailer yet, but it appears to be working after checking it with my test light. Took longer to move the battery, route and secure the cables under the hood than to actually plug both pieces in as directed by the instructions. Total install time was about 90 minutes.

2000 Toyota Tundra

Curt trailer wiring kit has good connectors and was easy to install into factory setup on my Tundra.

by:
2000 Toyota Tundra

The product fit perfectly as stated. Made the job very easy. My only reasons for not giving it a 5 star are 1 the kit did not come with any dielectric grease nor a picture showing where the 12v factory connection was, I found that on another site ( Its right next to the bsttery ).But as far as fit and ease of insulation I would give it a 5 star.

After purchasing two of another brand, since discontinued, I found the Curt product. The others failed within 6 months and after a year the Curt product still works fine. Just plug in and go. Couldn't be easier. Good product!

Everything was incredibly easy to replace and works top notch.

Worked perfectly, should have ordered this along time ago. Took me 10 minutes to install. Customer service was great too. Thanks for a great product.

It shortened out and blew fuses in my truck so I had no turn signals and flashers. About a month ago I had to purchase another one and installed it. Easy to install but thought it would last longer.

When a trailer wiring taillight converter harness shorts out, it's frequently caused by a short circuit in the trailer wiring. I'd recommend closely examining the trailer wiring for loose connections or wires with cracked or worn insulation. If the short isn't repaired, you'll keep shorting out converter boxes.

  • Installation of Electric Brake Controller on 2012 Isuzu NPR Connect
For your Pilot 2-6 Brake Electronic Brake Controller - Time Delayed # 80550, you will need to connect the black power wire to the battery of your vehicle using a circuit breaker like # PK54530 and # 12-1-1 wire. Then you will connect the red wire on your controller to the cold side of your brake light switch. From my research it looks like that is the green with white tracer, but you can check it with your circuit tester # PTW2993. The correct wire will show no power when the brake pedal...

On the 4-pole trailer wiring harnesses we offer for your 2000 Toyota Tundra, Tow Ready # 118367 and Curt # C55367, the connection point is under the vehicle on the driver's side. There will be a connector to mate with the plug shown in the linked photo. • Trailer Lights Not Working Using Curt 55367 on a 2000 Toyota Tundra
If nothing is working, then I would first check to see if any tow package fuses or relays are missing or blown. Use the owner's manual to find all fuse/relay locations. If that is not the issue, then it sounds like the previous owner has done a number on the original set up and you may have to have Toyota replace some of the factory tow package parts. Regarding the under-hood connection, it might already be set up from the factory (but the fuse associated with the battery feed could be...

  • Will the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness # C55367 Work with LED Trailer Lights
Yes, the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55367, will work with LED trailer lights. This wiring harness uses a powered converter which means it connects to a dedicated 12 volt power source from the vehicle battery and pulls power from the battery rather than the tail light circuits. This not only protects your truck's electrical system, but it also eliminates any potential problems from the reduced resistance from the LED trailer lights.
