Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out and showing you how to install the replacement handle knob for trailer jacks. When it comes to trailer jacks, you know, a lot of times they take a beating, they sit outside, we're all hard on 'em, and everything else. And so what I've seen in the past, a lot of times these handles, you know, they'll actually spin making it easier to crank the jack. A lot of times they also get froze up and make it a little more difficult to turn, kind of chews your hand up when you're doing that. Or in our case today, I'm assuming the plastic on this original one broke, they probably busted the rest of it off just so they don't cut their hands on the plastic.
But kind of a pain, you know, just turning this with bare metal here. If your jack is still functioning, make more sense just to put a new handle on it as opposed to having to buy and replace a whole new jack. In terms of what this is gonna work with, what type of jacks, you know, I feel like it's gonna fit a ton of 'em. So this one's designed for etrailer jacks and Ram-brand jacks as long as the handle's removable. This is a good example today, this looks like it's a SeaSense Jack, and I'm sure this will fit a lot of other brands as long as that handle is removable, and this piece will fit inside there.
So on two of the sides it's flat, and the flat part what that's gonna do is get in there and prevent this from spinning when you tighten the bolt down. And so as long as it'll fit in there, I feel like you should be in pretty good shape. Just out of curiosity, I took a crescent wrench here and put it on those flat spots and cranked it down. And what I have on my wrench is 3/8 of an inch. So that's something you can do at home to make sure that this is gonna work.
And if that pans out to be the same size, chances are really good you'll be able to replace your existing one. Other than that, though, at the end of the day, this is a really convenient part. It seems like a lot of people have a hard time finding something like this and end up having to just buy a whole new jack. But like we talked about, if this is in good shape and you're able to just replace a handle, kind of a no-brainer, right In terms of getting this installed. Super easy.
Shouldn't take you hardly anytime at all. And speaking of that, why don't go ahead and just change this one out now We'll remove our existing one, so just get this nut removed, get that out of the way. And essentially just a direct replacement here. So we wanna make sure when we put this in that those flat spots are gonna, you know, go inside of the other portion of our handle here. You got the washer that comes with it and the new nut. Tighten that down. And now we are back in action. We'll go ahead give it a test here. So, feels solid, you know, not a lot of slop or play in it or anything. The handle spins freely, and everything's working like it should. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the replacement handle knob for trailer jacks.

It took over a month for me to receive this shipment . At least erailer kept in touch with me and let me know why . The handle fits great on my Jack which is a 1000 lb . Jack with a red b on it . I think that I bought it at Lowe’s .

This particular handle was exactly what I was looking for, and I had unsuccessfully checked many other places for them. This style of bolt-on handle is evidently not used much anymore, so I was very happy to find it here. It is of very good quality and comes with the handle, bolt, locking nut, and flat washer. I am using it on a boat trailer jack. I thought the price was excellent.
Let me add that I was very impressed with the communications I received from Erika W. at etrailer. She emailed me right away with the apology that the handle was on backorder, and kept me up to date along the way. These communications were not the result of my inquiring about the handle - they were proactive updates from her about the delay and the progress they were making.
I have purchased from etrailer before and I certainly will again!

This handle replacement is not easy to find. I ordered it thinking it will be a direct replacement for my jack but im 95% sure this is designed for a larger hole than the bolt itself. It has two nibs that look like they are supposed to bind when tightening the nut which didn't work on mine so i ended up using an impact to snug it up. I also had to add two large washers as spacers because the plastic had way too much play side to side. Overall it is working just fine.

I just had to use a different lock nut for proper thread engagement for my application.

This handle was just what I needed to replace the rubber-grip rotating handle that went missing off the SeaSense jack on my boat trailer. It has a lock nut so maybe it won't fall off on the highway like the last one did! These don't seem easy to find, maybe it's an old style of jack, so I was grateful eTrailer had one to sell. I down-rated one star only because it seemed overpriced, but because I couldn't find it anywhere else, that's ok too.

I needed a new handle for my tongue jack. the jack was under warranty, but when I called for a replacement they said it was backordered until the end of october, and I should call back then just to see if is available yet. what kind of customer service is that?? I'm glad e-trailer had this handle available. It was worth the few dollars I paid for it to not have to deal with the poor service from the manufacturer!! fast shipping, and good quality part!!

Bolt inside the handle knob doesn't quite fit my trailer.. the round part goes through the hole, but the hole has a rectangular shape (as does the bolt), like a carriage bolt, and that part of the bolt is too large to fit through the hole. I am using it temporarily until I find something that fits.

It has been a year and the handle works great. The grip is a lot better than the old handle that was lost. I would definitely recommend etrailer to keep your equipment running better than new.
