Michael: Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Thule hideaway adapter kit. This kit is going to allow you to mount your Thule hideaway awning directly onto your Volkswagen T2 and T3 microbus.All of the brackets here are a nice powder coated steel construction so they're going to hold up very well. And you're not going to have to worry about rusting, corrosion. And they are going to be very strong so they're going to be able to hold the weight of that hideaway.
Each one also has this rubber foot here to help prevent any sort of damage to your microbus with the metal on metal contact there. So that's going to be nice. All the hardware that you need to get this installed is included. And they also include some instructions to help you along the way. But essentially the way this works, this bracket here is going to sit on the rain gutter of your microbus.
And that's going to give it that attachment point. So then at the top, your hideaway awning can attach up there and you'll be able to use that hideaway awning on your microbus.That's really all there is to this kit. It's going to work for you. It is a Thule product so you can trust that it's going to work well. You're not going to need to make any modifications or anything like that.

Even though I had been assured these adapters would work I wanted to check them out before I ordered the awning. I got the adapter the first thing I noticed was the color, they were not white they were light grey and when I put them up to the bodywork they looked awful. One of the wider adapters had a scratch that was showing bare metal. I sprayed the adapters white so the scratch didn't matter as I really had to get rid of the light grey. Before I did all this I did test fit and they work well and I ordered the awning. A small thing but there was no etrailer logo on the adapter as shown in the picture. I would include a self adhesive decal for applying after painting as I can't imagine anyone will fit them with the light grey color.

These stairs were originally bought for a Thule awning but Thule awning were all on back order and I didnt want to wait that long. I ordered a Foam awning and these adapters worked well with those.
