This is going to replace the key shield that helps support the key when it's in the lock cylinder on your rooftop cargo box. This will work with several different Thule rooftop cargo box models, including the Force Alpine, the Force, the Hyper XL, the Sonic Alpine, and the Sonic. So if you are needing to replace that key shield, this is gonna be a placement right from Thule.

Great product, certainly OEM quality. My initial concern was lack of instructions, but after removing the opposite side (to replace a lock core), replacement was very self evident.

This will allow you to remove any unlocked Thule lock cylinders and will be used to insert a new Thule lock cylinder. I've attached a video to assist. - How To Replace the Lock Core and Shield On a Thule Force XL Cargo BoxI don't have a whole lot of information for you but I spoke with Thule and they informed me that the lock core will need to come out first (with change key part # 853-1251) and then the lock shield part # 05771 can be removed. The lock shield should just fall out as the lock core holds this in place but you may need to twist this one way or another. The new lock shield can then be set into place and secured with the lock core.

- Missing Key Shield Replacement for Thule Force L Cargo Box 628That was an expensive cargo box at one point. It is a Thule Force Large cargo box part number 628. What yours is missing is the key shield part # 05771 which you would need to install the Thule lock set that you tried already # TH450200.
