Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the tailor-made boat flagpole mounting socket for a rail mount. This allows you to put a flagpole on a rail mount, so whether that's on your boat or any other kind of handle, or just railing that you might want to put it on, this is going to be the solution for you. It fits a one inch diameter flagpole, and then it fits around a 1 1/8 inch rail, or up to 1 1/4 inch.So right off the bat, the first thing I noticed about this is that it's pretty heavy. It was heavier than I expected, but it is actually made out of solid stainless steel, so that's always nice to see. It's not just some cheapy kind of half metal thing.
A lot of times it seems like metal stuff isn't always fully metal. So really feels nice and heavy duty, it should last you a long time, and that rust resistance from stainless steel is always nice to have, especially if you're going to have this on a boat or anything like that, where it's going to be out in the elements.Pretty nice, shiny overall mount. It does come with some neoprene spacers, so you can wrap these around the railing to help give it a little extra grip or take up any slack to make sure that it's a nice fit. It does come with two, you might not need to use both, but you do have the option. On the back, there is some sticky stuff, so take that backing off and it should stick onto that railing.
And it's pretty easy to install this. It doesn't come with any tools, but you'll need either a five millimeter hex wrench or a 3/16 will also work for those to loosen these up, and then just put it around your railing. Then there's also a small set screw there that should bite into that railing as well to make sure it doesn't turn or wobble as that flagpole is in place. That will need a three millimeter or an 1/8 inch hex key or Allen wrench. As far as the overall size of our socket here, edge to edge, it's about 3 3/4 inches long. The widest portion, kind of bows out in the middle, it's about 2 1/2 inches wide.
And then overall, about three inches or 3 1/8 inch tall. But from the center of that pole to the top of the socket, it's about 2 1/4. It is made in the USA. And again, the diameter that this will fit is an inch, and this will fit either 1 1/8 inch or up to an 1 1/4 inch. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the tailor-made mounting socket for your flagpoles.
I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right solution for you. We do have a lot of boating and flag accessories here at etrailer.com, so check them out. Thanks for watching.
