Video Transcript for Review of Peterson - Trailer Lights - 19-41

Today, we're going to take a quick look at the mechanical switch for Peterson back up lights. This is going to allow you to have that back up light function on a vehicle that doesn't already have the back up light functions. Something like an agricultural vehicle, tractor, combine, something like that where you need that back up signal for your lights. It's going to come with a mounting bracket; I've got it all kind of assembled how it would be. We'll have our clamp on the one end for our wiring to go in. You'll want to make sure that this is facing away from any moisture. This is not going to be sealed like the rest of the switch.

We'll have a little rubber gasket going all the way around this crease and then the two bolts that go through the switch also have a rubber gasket on either side so that it's going to be completed sealed there. The switch itself, also, has a little rubber boot; keeps everything protected.Has this flexible actuating arm to connect to your gear shaft or whatever you need to have be the actuating function, or the actuating point and then it rotates on that mounting bracket. The hardware for the mounting bracket to be attached is not included so you will have to pick something up for that. This meets all SAE-J 249 specifications. It's heavy duty; we don't have to worry about water or dust getting in here. Just have to be careful about that back closure there.

Whatever you have your wiring in place that will kind of act as a barrier on that end but just something to keep in mind.As far as overall dimensions, with our clamp pretty tight down and the bracket in place, at it's longest . wrong end of my ruler here, it's about four inches. At it's tallest with that actuating arm it's about seven inches. That arm, just by itself, is about four and a half. Our switch, overall, without the clamp is about three and a quarter, with the clamp, about three and three quarter.

The bracket on the other side is about two and three quarter inches and then width wise, or depth wise, however you want to think of it, it's about an inch and 3/8ths.And that's going to do it for our look at the mounting bracket at the back up light switch for Peterson back up lights.
