Snap-on, Polished Chrome Ring for MCL13 Series LED Lights

It’s a good product, nothing special to note just a trim piece and made of good plastic. If you’re into tricking out your trailer then it does give it a nice finished look. I have had it about a year on a boat trailer that gets dumped in saltwater constantly and no problems or discoloration. Reason for a 4 star review is there’s nothing outstanding about it.

However, etrailer customer service is outstanding and every person I talk to is extremely knowledgeable and informative. I’m a person that appreciates excellent customer service and I’m willing to be loyal to a company in return for that. So please keep doing what you’re doing!!1658339

When my clearance light quit I ordered the Optronics MCL13A2B light, the MCL13C2B chrome ring, and the MCL13G2B gasket. So this review is actually of all three products.

I wanted to make a watertight installation and actually wasn't exactly sure how to best accomplish that. So here is what I did.

1. I place the gasket on the chrome ring.
2. I ran a bead of silicone around the gasket edge inside the chrome ring.
3. I placed the LED light into the chrome ring. My objective is to create a sealed light assembly.
4. I then backed the chrome ring with butyl tape and mounted it on the trailer.

The light is sealed from the back by the butyl tape and the silicone plus the gasket keeps the water from entering from the front.

I've ordered clear caulk which I will apply on the top half of the light to further seal out water.542570

I found the chrome rings to make the replacement marker lights I installed to look much more professional than just the lights installed alone. They were a little lighter weight than I expected when I ordered them, but they have held up quite well so far. (Full disclosure, my boat trailer is only put in fresh water and is dried down after usage.)1145878

I am renovating an old boat and trailer and the clearance lights and tail lights were no good. I found these clearance lights on etrailer that are perfect for replacing the old lights.
