Hi everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we'll be taking a look at the Malone Replacement Beach Balloon Wheels for your Malone kayak carts. If you're expecting a very soft surface, and this is usually the beach or sand, especially the very soft white sand, you're gonna want some balloon wheels because, as awesome as never-go-flat tires are, they sink into that sand very quickly, and then you're pulling your kayak, plus the weight of the beach with you. This allows you to just float over the sand to make it easier to get the kayak to the water. Even though it's called a balloon tire, it's still very strong and durable, where, even as you hit, let's say sea shells or rocks on the beach, this will not puncture your tire, but rather still allow you to float forwards. These will arrive fully inflated but, if over time you do lose air, or you need to reinflate, you do have some instructions here and an air valve as well to make it easier for you to inflate the tire. You do get a set of two tires.
So if you only damage one and just need to replace one, just keep the extra one just in case. Or, if you're upgrading from the never-go-flat tires, then you have that full set to upgrade. Now, this is how you switch it out. There's a push button on your cart, so go ahead and press that to remove the wheel. Then switch it out with your new wheel, should be a direct replacement, press that button again, then slide it through and then it will lock.
And now your kayak cart has new balloon wheels to make it easier for the sandy beaches. The inside diameter of the wheel is going to be one inch, which is why it's a perfect replacement part for your Malone kayak cart. This was designed for the Clipper TRX as well as the Xpress TRX, so just double check what kayak cart you have to make sure it matches. Just got the tires today. I will be using them to make beach dollies for Hobie catamaran sailboats. They seem much heavier than the wheel I have been buying. Should hold their shape better.

The wheels are 12 inches in diameter, so the radius would be half that, 6 inches. I suppose if you could find larger wheels compatible with a 20mm axle tube, you could use them but Malone doesn't recommend doing so. If you'll be using the cart on sand, balloon tires like # MPG516 are available separately....

Have purchased several of the wheels. Overall they have worked well. Having trouble with one, leak around the valve stem. Also the diameters are not consistent. Some are slightly larger than the others.
