Hey, everyone. It's Evangeline. And today we're taking a look at the Malone ClipperTRX kayak cart right here, at etrailer.com. So this is a ClipperTRX Deluxe and you can actually get this with balloon wheels, or no-flat wheels, it's gonna work the exact same way. This is a good option if you want some versatility if you have kayaks in different shapes and different sizes, this is a good starter option for you. Otherwise, you can take a look at the bunk style options or even the scupper hull option.
Now, I really enjoy kayaking. And I enjoy kayaking in places where you don't really find kayaks. So, random creeks, rivers, and ponds. Now, the issue with that, is it takes a lot of effort to take the kayak off of the car and then get it to the water. So that's where kayak carts can come in handy.
Rather than spending all your energy carrying the kayak around, or on sand, or dirt, or trails. You just use a cart. So this is one of the more versatile kayak carts. And you will find that the more versatile the kayak cart is, the more straps are involved. So, here we have two small straps on each side, and it's really gonna have to be up to you to find out the best way to get the most support out of those straps.
For example, what I do, is I run both of the straps through where my seat goes, and then I go around the other side. That way I can secure it to the cam buckles on the other side. So find a way for you, and make sure you strap it down nice and tight, or else your cart will want to slip. What makes this a little different from the others is that this one has a stand to make it easier for you to get your kayak onto the cart. So, on the cart, you have these grips that you can actually adjust to fit around your hull a little bit better.
And this can be folded up. So you have the stand, and the stand can actually push down. And then the kayak cart can be used on its own, or be more compact, so you can see how much less space it takes up with it folded up. And here we have the balloon wheels, which work great for different types of terrain. It's ideal for sandy beaches because the flat free wheels, or the no-flat wheels, they tend to sink into the sand, especially with the heavier kayaks. And this is better for sand. Now, the no-flat wheels are a bit more versatile, though. Because you don't have to pump them up with the included pump that this one has. Plus, again, there are no flats. Or, you can get one or the other, and if you find your situation changes, purchase the wheels separately, and then just switch them out when you feel the need to. Now, what do you do with the cart when you're ready to go kayaking Depending on where you are, you could just leave the cart on the shore. Or if you wanna bring it with you for security purposes, some of the other carts you can get away with stacking them onto your kayak and just letting it sit off of the back. Now, for this one, there isn't really that good of a mounting point for that. So I just recommend folding it up, where it's all lightweight and compact, and that's what we can store inside of your kayak. With this measuring 29 inches by 14 inches by four inches deep, this means that it's very easy to secure in even your smaller kayaks, like what I have here. This only weighs 11.2 pounds, and that includes the weight of the balloon wheels. This is super lightweight. It's almost like it's not even in your kayak. So, my thoughts on the Malone ClipperTRX, is I really like how lightweight it is. If you're planning on storing your kayak cart in your kayak, then this is gonna be a good option for you. The downside to the ClipperTRX are the straps. I would prefer the scupper style, just because they clip right onto the boat and you don't have to deal with any straps. But really, the small amount of work you have to put in to getting your kayak cart ready, is nothing compared to the amount of work you have to do to lift your kayak to get it to the water. So if you wanna focus on the adventure and save your energy for paddling, that's why kayak carts are handy. Oh, and that was a look at our Malone ClipperTRX Deluxe kayak cart here at Etrailer. My name is Evangeline, and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
