Video Transcript for Lippert Components Trailer Suspension LC283271 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Lippert Components black standard replacement shock. This Lippert component shock will instantly improve your ride. It is an oiled filled shock. This is a replacement shock that will help absorb road shock and vibration. Give you a more comfortable towing experience. The part is one shock per package.

It does include the mounting hardware which I've already installed onto the stud mount. It has a nice black enamel finish and the most important thing about it it's the measurement of the compressed length and the extended length. It's in the compressed position right now, so we're going to measure from here to here. Which is the compressed length. We put a ruler on that you can see is right at 7 1/2 inches. If we do the extended length, you pull it out all the way.

Outside all the way in the same from here to here. The extended length on this is going to be right at 12 inches. That should do it for the review on the Lippert Components black standard replacement shock.

by:

Ordering was easy and shipment came qui ck

Replaced both leaf springs, hangers, and shocks on a Dexter 3500lb axle. Entire process took just over an hour.

by:

Shocks I received were the correct replacement for my fifth wheel. Matt was professional and courteous made the inquiry and purchase seamless. I received the shocks within a couple of days. I would recommend you call and ask for him specifically!!

by:

Great service from etrailer.com! They took my order in the afternoon over the phone (I could have done it online as well), and by early evening the same day, I received an email that the order was shipped! That's the kind of service I can relate to! This was listed as Standard Replacement Shock, but it was an exact replica of the one I needed to replace on my Big Horn 5th Wheel. Took less than 5 minutes to install. I would buy it again.

We ordered shocks for our 5th wheel trailer. They were delivered in a timely matter. They were installed on our trailer and have not had any issues since.

by:

I bought 4 shocks. It's hard to get real excited about shocks but the good news is these fit !!

Because my trailer's suspension had been modified, there was no place to find the application based upon year and model. I knew the distance between my shock mounts and that they needed to be stem to stem, that's it.

I found these online but needed a bit more info on specs so I called. It was very fortunate for me that Jean P. answered. She didn't have access to the specs I needed either and said she'd call the manufacturer for the info and call me right back. For some reason, she couldn't get through to the manufacturer so she walked out to her warehouse, found the part number, opened the box and got the measurements I needed. Wow!! I was delighted and felt secure that these shocks would work and I wouldn't have to return yet another set locally. So this review is not so much about the product but more about etrailer's customer service. OUTSTANDING!! I've since placed another order with them for RV products.

We have a 1960 Dana Hull-Guard Boat Trailer that you cannot find any parts or information for that my husband just refurbished. The last item was a set of shocks. No one has ever heard of a trailer having shocks and springs, but this one does have both. After countless calls to local trailer parts stores in NC, Google led me to etrailer.com. My first search led me to the exact product I was looking for. The description was well detailed with the exact length and specs for the shock, which was exactly what we needed! Once ordered I had shipping/tracking information within 30min and it arrived at my front door in two days, just as promised. I highly recommend etrailer.com and will definitely use them in the future should the need arise. Thank you!!!!!

Had a hard time finding the shocks I needed for our 5th wheel trailer. Got in touch with e-trailer explained what I needed and got them ordered. Great service. Highly recommend them, very knowledgable.

by:

Not only purchased the shock for my trailer but all new brakes as well, Exactly as advertised and easy to installed. Fast shipping and great price. Thanks

by:

Excellent service on this order. Product was not available when I initially ordered it and etrailer rep called immediately to inform me. Asked if I was willing to wait for a specific period of days and I agreed. They shipped the product on the promise date and it arrived 2 business days later. I have ordered parts several time from etrailer and have never been disappointed. Job well done.

by:

Cathy was able to find the right shock absorber for my 5th wheel by giving her the axle rating and the part number off the Dexter center point. Just installed it and was the correct Lippert replacement for the Made in China shock with no part# that it replaced.

by:

Arrived as advertised and on time.

by:

Shocks fit great on my boat trailer. Trailer had alot of ufp parts and these shocks fit. 1999 champion 193 elite with single axle trailer.

by:

It is hard to tell just how good these shocks are because I added the E-Flex suspension at the same time. But for what it is worth...the ride has really smoothed out with these shocks and E-Flex.

by:

They fit great. Trailer rides a lot smo other.

by:

The only place to shop for Trailer/RV parts!! Great service, shipping and most important friendly staff!!

by:

Yes they solved my problem
made trailer
ride better as two xer broken
and the others were worn out.

price and services were great

Thanks

by:

Matched my older Dexter shocks. Fast s ervice.

by:

Stock like shocks were the only ones dimensionally able to fit. All the parts were in the package and typical installation. I look forward to trying them out.

by:

  • Shocks For a 2021 Heartland Fuel 250 Travel Trailer Toy Hauler
It appears the Lippert Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock # LC283280 is the correct shock for your 2021 Heartland Fuel 250 travel trailer toy hauler. This shock is rated for trailer axles that are rated from 3,500lbs to 7,000lbs. Your Fuel has 5,200lb axles which fall into that range. The shock has a 8-5/8" compressed length and 13-1/2" extended length. Your mounting brackets should sit between these measurements with the trailer level. Ideally you should see about 11" but it can vary based on...

  • Replacement Shock Recommendation for a Trailer
We might have what you need, but you will need to measure the shocks on your trailer first to be certain. The Lippert Standard Shock part # LC283271 might be what you need. It measures 7.5" compressed and 12" extended. If this would fit your trailer you would need to order a quantity of two to replace the shocks on both sides of your trailer. These shocks use vertical posts so that would need to match up to what is on your trailer as well.

  • Replacement Shock for Dexter Axle 052-003-00
The 052-003-00 number on your current shock is the part number from Dexter Axle. We don't carry the direct replacement but if the specs match for the Lippert Standard Replacement Shock # LC283271 and the axle this is being applied to is a 2-3/8" diameter 3,500 lb axle then you should be good to go! Attached is a review video for you to check out.

  • Recommended Suspension For 2005 KZ Sportsmen 5th Wheel Trailer
The Lippert Components Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271 is a good choice for your application if you can line up the mounts. This shock has a 7.5 inch compressed length and 12 inch extended length so your 9 inches will fit but have limited travel. Your other option is to use an equilizer style suspension system like the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle - 7-3/4" Equalizers # K71-653-00. This system replaces your equilizer on your tandem axle trailer...

  • Recommended Shock Absorbers On 5th Wheel Trailer For More Comfortable Towing Experience
Since you are concerned about dips, RRs, and bumps in curves, I recommend using a shock absorber like # LC283271 or # LC281281 on your 5th wheel trailer. You stated the mounting hardware is already in place, so adding shock absorbers should be easy and will allow you a smoother and more comfortable trailer ride. The absorbers will dampen the initial hit and will add support the load so the rest of the trailer is far less impacted by the dip or bump in the road. They will also assist...

  • Replacement Trailer Shock Absorber for 2004 Jayco Designer 31RLS
Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock - Yellow # LC283280 are what you will need as replacement shocks. They are 8.625 inches completely compressed and 13.5 inches completely extended so under weight they likely will be right at your 11 inch measurement. If you need replacement brackets, you can use the kit # LC281281.

  • Shock Kit that Can Fit on Jayco Eagle 317RLOK
Hey Jerry, the shock you'll get the most performance and benefit from is the Lippert # LC283271. The shock doesn't actually bare any of the trailer weight and only works to try and slow it down so that it's smoother so while the shock might allow a slightly quicker dampening effect it will still make a noticeable improvement.

  • Which Replacement Shocks For 2018 Heartland RV Bighorn 3270RS 5th Wheel Trailer
The Lippert Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271 is only rated for 3500lb axles with 2-3/8" diameter axles so I am a little surprised that they were used on your 2018 Heartland RV Bighorn 3270RS 5th wheel as it has a GVWR of 15500lbs. The Lippert Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock - Yellow # LC283280 will be just over an inch longer when compressed, and 1-1/2" longer extended but is rated for 3500-7000lbs which would be much better suited for your trailer. • Replacement Shock for 2004 Keystone Montana Big Sky 5th Wheel Trailer
Your Montana 5th wheel trailer will likely use the Lippert Components Standard Replacement Shock - Black Item # LC283271. But to be sure you can remove a shock from the trailer and measure its compressed and extended lengths to determine if it is a match. The replacement has a 7.5" Compressed length; 12" extended length. If your shocks have a 8.625" compressed length; 13.5" extended length then you would need replacement heavy duty shock # LC283280. • Recommended Replacement Shocks For 2015 Heartland Bighorn 3270RS 5th Wheel Trailer W/ 15500 GVWR
I have a replacement option for you, but I do not know why Heartland put the Lippert Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271 on your 2015 Heartland Bighorn 3270RS 5th wheel trailer with a 15500lb GVWR. These shocks are only designed for 3500lb axles. You will want to replace them with the Lippert Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock # LC283280 which are rated for axles up to 7000lbs and will do a much better job on your trailer. This shock is only 1" longer so you will not have any fitment...

I can't find the length of the shock you are replacing, but we have a couple options that may work. The Lippert Components Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271, has a 7.5 inch compressed length and a 12 inch extended length. The Lippert Components Heavy-Duty Replacement Shock - Yellow, # LC283280, has a compressed length of 8.625 inches and an extended length of 13.5 inches. We also have some brake actuator shock absorbers like # T2336200 with a shorter length.

  • Replacement Shock for 2020 Jayco Eagle 321RSTS Trailer
Based on the dimensions you mentioned for a replacement shock the part # LC283271 would be your best option. When it is compressed it measures 7-1/2 inches from inside of the metal washer to metal washer when retracted and 12 inches when extended. You can see these measurements taken in the attached review video. This would give you the amount of travel you'd need for the suspension to function and would do a great job making the ride quality smoother.

  • What is the Weight Capacity of the Lippert Components Replacement Shock?
I reached out to my tech contact at Lippert and the Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271 doesn't have a rated capacity but is designed only for use on 2-3/8 inch diameter axles. That axle size is the 3,500 lb axle, so seeing as they are designed for 2 shocks per axle, the closest I can give you to a capacity is approximately 1,750 lbs but shocks aren't weight bearing so that is why they aren't rated for a capacity. Any axle above the 3,500 lbs would require the Lippert Components...

  • Recommended Replacement Shock for a Dexter Axle 052-003-00
I'd recommend sticking with what you've got currently. If the shocks feel a little light they may be worn and need replacing. The 052-003-00 part number you gave comes back to a part number from Dexter Axle, and while we do not carry a direct replacement we still may have something for you. If the axle the shock goes to is 2 3/8" in diameter and has a 3.5K capacity, then the Lippert Standard Replacement Shock # LC283271 would work great as a replacement.

  • Shocks Needed for Bass Boat Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles
The Lippert Components Shock # LC283271 is a replacement part. Although it works well, if you don't have the mounting hardware already, this shock alone will do you no good. Instead what you want is a whole shock kit. Since you have 3,500 lb axles, which are typically 2-3/8" round, you will need the kit # LC281255. This includes the shocks and the mounting hardware. This kit has a weight capacity right at the 3,500 lb mark.
