Shock Kit that Can Fit on Jayco Eagle 317RLOK

Question:

Correct shocks needed. The Jayco Eagle 5th 317RLOK came with a shock prep kit installed. Mount separation is 10.5. The Lippert 283280 heavy duty shock, which is too long 8.625-13.5 would leave only .625 of compression. The only other shock that may work is the Lippert 283271, which looks like the length is correct. However, it is made for the 3500 lb. axle and I have a Dexter 6000 lb axle. Is there another shock available or will the Lippert 283271 7.5-12 length with 1.75 of compression work? I am also looking at a Monroe 555001 7.88-11.88. This shock would only give me 1.37 of compression. Each rubber bushing takes up about 5/8x2= 1-1/4 Thanks

Hey Jerry, the shock you'll get the most performance and benefit from is the Lippert # LC283271. The shock doesn't actually bare any of the trailer weight and only works to try and slow it down so that it's smoother so while the shock might allow a slightly quicker dampening effect it will still make a noticeable improvement.
