Replacement Shocks For a 2008 Forest River Rockwood 232XR Pop Up Toy Hauler
Question:
Howdy, I have a 2008 Rockwood freedom 232xr off road pop up camper. It has factory installed shocks, but they are getting old and it might be time to replace them. I tend to do a lot of driving on unpaved and rocky Roads. Its also a toy hauler so it has a GVWR of 3,782 pounds and a dry weight of 2,677 pounds. Sometimes I load it up to about the max GVWR and sometimes its more around the 3000 pound load. Would the Lippert heavy duty or standard replacement shock be the best option? Thanks!

First you are going to want to try and determine which shocks you currently have. The Standard Shock # LC283271 is 7-1/2" compressed and 12" extended while the Heavy Duty Shock # LC283280 is 8-5/8" compressed and 13-1/2" extended. If neither of these match the dimensions of your shocks you can try and contact Forest River to see if they can tell you what they used on your 2008 Rockwood 232XR or I would go with the Heavy Duty Kit # LC281255 since it sees a lot of unpaved driving.
