  • Strap provides extra support for your hitch receiver when you use a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier
    • Limits torque placed on hitch receiver by heavy accessory
    • Evenly distributes weight to stabilize hitch accessory and prevent bouncing
  • Cam buckle design allows for quick connection and release
    • Attach one end to the bike rack and the other end to the vehicle
    • Pull strap through the cam buckle and towards front of the vehicle to increase tension for a secure fit

by:

The Cam buckle keeps the bike rack from bouncing, so I would assume (I know) that should put less stress on the bike rack over time.

Your install videos rock!
Great selection
of products, with lots of honest reviews.
Excellent support with domestically based agents.

I use use a Curt Hitch "Flat Carrier"
https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Curt/C18110.html
for
loads on my 2005 Prius.
Bought the recommended support strap and liked the way it took the up-down bounce stress off the hitch, but the carrier still wobbled left to right, rotating slightly within the hitch receiver. Bought a second strap and the two stabilized the load very nicely. I needed a light cord between the two straps at the top of the hatch door to encourage them not to slide off the corners of the door.

I am quite pleased with our flat carrier. We keep the loads low enough & centered enough to not block the brake lights and the license plate. Weve used it to carry bikes as well.

by:

I love how this fits in the top of the hatch. Store my cargo carrier from rattling when either loaded or empty. Bought 2 because we transfer the carrier to another vehicle sometimes.

by:

This strap is easy to use and I appreciate the peace of mind I have while driving knowing there is extra support of my hitch mounted bike rack. The Velcro fastener makes it easy to bundle the strap’s “tail” so it doesn’t drag while driving.

by:

Purchased this strap as a backup support for the bike rack that I will be using with my new etrailer hitch.

by:

Can hold my five bikes easily

They
are hybrid trail bikes.

Have to check weight limit for 5th bike.

I bought two stabilizer straps just for piece of mind. They certainly won't hurt

by:

Outstanding product. The stitching and material are heavy duty. Looks great on my Honda Accord and Thule bike rack. Thanks!

Rating the best. Super good company to deal with.

by:

The strap helped to stabilize the bike rack .. Strong & sturdy .. If you get the bike rack & hitch spend the extra for this ... Worked great on my 2013 vw beetle convertible ..

It still works perfect .. very happy

by:

I've been using the hitch for my bike rack and it has been performing as expected. Absolutely no problems. A little harder to install than expected, but with a little help from friends it is still where it belongs.

by:

My purchase was an easy choice with advice I received from customer service. The hitch is working great no problems. You can't go wrong making your purchase from etrailer.

Product works great just like day 1. I look forward to many years of use when maintained properly.

by:

We were very impressed with the quality of the Curt Trailer hitch we purchased, its price and how quickly it arrived.
We had the hitch installed by a very good local mechanic for a fraction of the cost quoted by our Honda dealer.
The hitch support strap that was recommended works perfectly with this hitch.
We highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

by:

Gives you that little extra stability.I like it.

by:

simple and effective. Works as advertised. Actually one of the better stabilization straps on the market. the buckle is strong and has a durable non marking coating. I'd recommend buying 3 at a time (two to stabilize to an overkill level, and one backup because you know how life is)

Nikhil

Continues to perform as intended

by:

Install was very easy, instructions were clear.

Be sure to use WD-40 to loosen up the muffler attachments. That one step alone made this job easier than I expected.

This hitch is used to attach a goal post, so I can carry my kayaks on top.

Great customer service, the best.

by:

Box to hitch 1 minute.
2 ebikes and
ready to roll 10 minutes.
A whole new world has opened up. This is absolutely the easiest, most versatile rack ever. At 65, my days of putting a light bike on a roof rack are over. This will handle almost anything.
The service and attention to detail was amazing. The eTrailer team seems like friends at the local bike shop. BUY IT HERE!
Gotta go, mountains to ride.

by:

We used our new hitch thanks to etrailer.com !

The bike rake fit perfectly .. we used the support strap too!

Off we go!

by:

Was an easy install, Matched right up

by:

Just finished about a 300 mile round-trip and the strap definitely helps stabilize the hitch-mounted bike rack. The only issue was that the angle of the clip was too much for the hatch on my Golf GTI so I had to bend it a little to get it to fit.

Etrailer Expert

Katrina B.

4/3/2023

Bending the clips will cause the straps to potentially lose their capacity.

by:

We received a damaged box, damaged items, no instructions, the nuts and bolts are completely stripped and not inside a bag. This was obviously used, returned, not checked for quality and sent out. We are extremely upset.

Etrailer Expert

Rebecca N.

7/13/2023

Oh my goodness! I will have our Customer Service team reach out as soon as possible. We can have replacements sent out.

by:

FAST EASY VERY SATISFIED

by:

I've used etrailer.com before, and the service is excellent. The step-by-step video showing the receiver installation on my model year car was extremely helpful.

by:

Quality of the hitch is excellent. Bolts in rear could use 4 sleeves. More difficult to instal due to alignment of bumper and the cover which had to be removed before holes could be drilled. Lift was very helpful. Took about 3.5 hrs. to install correctly.

by:

Great rack. Easy to use.

by:

All the products we received were of excellent quality. We have used the basket carrier a lot. All components are standing up to everyday use, weather we carry water jugs or bottles of propane the carrier and hitch show no problems.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Availability for a 2018 Ford EcoSport
They do not make a class III trailer hitch receiver for your 2018 Ford EcoSport. Instead, you will need to choose from either the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36660 or the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12188 which both have a class II rating with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. I prefer the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver as it is more cost effective and will not require the use of a support strap like part # 18050 for non-towing accessories. If you can tell me what you...

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2013 Mini Clubman S
The Curt Hitch part # C11387 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit all models of the 2013 Mini Clubman so that means it would work well on your S model. This is a Class I trailer hitch and Class I trailer hitches are designed to handle only 2 bikes at most and you must have a Class I compatible bike rack. And this trailer hitch, the manufacturer requires using a stabilization strap # 18050 for all non-trailer loads. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed...

  • Best Quality Trailer Hitch for 2011 Ford Edge
We carry hitches from two manufacturers, Cequent Performance Products, who manufactures Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite and Curt Manufacturing. I would say that in terms of overall build quality and the quality of the finish, the hitches from both companies are pretty equal. In terms of choosing a hitch for your 2011 Edge, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75992 or for Edge Sport models, the Draw-Tite # 75728. The Curt Class III, part # C13067 is a bit less expensive, but...

The trailer hitch designed to fit your GLK 250 is part # C13155. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. Per a note from Curt warranty requirements, all non-trailer loads (bike racks, cargo carriers, etc) must be supported by stabilizing straps, such as part # 18050. The trailer harness I recommend for your vehicle is the Curt Wiring Harness, part # C59236. The wires to connect the harness are located behind the tail lights on your GLK 250.

I have attached a link to the frame-mount hitches we offer for motorhomes and RVs. I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13703. You will need to measure the outside to outside distance from one frame member to the other. The # 13703 will work if this distance is between 22 and 72 inches. The Curt hitch, part # 13077 has a different design but has the same towing capacities as the # 75600. • Comparing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75600 and the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13077 for a 2015 BMW X5
Although the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75600, and the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13077, are both great hitches that both have a 6,000 lb max Gross Trailer Weight and a 600 lb max Tongue Weight, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 75600. The reason that I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75600 over the Curt # 13077 is because the Curt hitch requires that you use a stabilization strap, like part # 18050, for any non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers per the Curt warranty....

Good question; the Curt Stabilizing Support Strap # 18050 is recommended by Curt, but is not required when using a bike rack on your 2019 Chevy Impala with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12115. It will not affect the warranty on the Curt hitch if you choose not to use the strap. Dual-receiver adapters such as # D-192 and combo ball mount/receivers like # D210 are made for sturdier 2-inch hitches but no such item is made for a 1-1/4-inch hitch since using one would put too much stress on the hitch and possibly even the vehicle too. Curt recommends the stabilizer strap with non-supported loads like bike racks to help support the hitch when going over bumps to prevent some of the vertical shock from being transferred to the hitch.
