Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this CURT Hook with Spring Loaded Safety Latch. Now, this durable hook is going to let you quickly connect a safety cable or safety chain to any application. And this spring loaded safety latch is going to keep this hook from accidentally disconnecting. And this latch really does have a a good tension to it, so I don't think you're gonna have to worry about this coming loose, or moving or anything like that.
It's gonna hold really well for you. This is a steel construction, so it's going to be very strong and durable. This zinc coating is going to resist corrosion. This has a weight capacity of 3500 pounds. This is SAE Class Two.

I'm only giving these hooks 3 stars because they do not fit a 2022 Honda Ridgeline.
1. The gap between the "S", while wide enough to slip over the truck loop, ISN'T wide enough to slide down over the loop fully on the truck.
2. The distance from the top of the spring loaded latch to the underside of the hook will is not long enough to allow the latch to close. There is no measurement on the picture to tell you this when ordering.

After I drilled new holes for the safety clip so it would clear the connection point on my hitch, it works perfectly. Whats missing in the specs is the distance from the top of the safety spring latch to the bottom most point of the arch in the hook. You need this distance to know if the spring will clear your safety chain connection point so that the hook will slide over your hitch connection point and be able to fully open and close without hitting that connection point.
These are very good safety chain hooks, and rugged. However the opening in the hooks were not large enough to fit the 1/2"+ diameter on our Honda Pilot. I am going to keep them because I'm sure I'll have an opportunity to use them later on another project.
I would recommend this to anyone needing safety chain hooks.
Great product! The safety clip works perfectly on my boat/trailer. Will order more to replace other less effective clips!
This economical latch is made of some extremely tough material. It may look like mild steel, but is much, much stronger than that!
