Today we're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox Base Plate and Receiver Lock Kit with Four Locks. That's going to be part number BX88177. This four lock kit is perfect for securing your entire flat tow set up, all the way from your receiver hitch on your RV to the base plate on your vehicle. All of our locks are keyed alike and they do come with two sets of keys for each lock. Each one of our locks is going to feature a nice rubber dust cover, which is going to keep the dirt, debris, and moisture from getting into the lock cylinder. Our locks have a steel construction and they have a chrome plating, so they'll look nice for a long time. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to use them. We already have one of our 5/8 locks securing our high low adapter to our RV's hitch. Let's show you how we get the other ones installed.
Our kit's going to come with two 5/8 locks and two 1/2 inch locks. The 5/8 locks are going to secure our hitch or our high low adapter and our tow bar to the RV. Our 1/2 inch locks are going to attach our base plate to our tow bar itself. We can start by removing the pinning clip from the tow bar on our high low adapter. Then if we take our lock and the supplied key, we can flip open the dust cover on our lock, turn it a quarter turn, and we can remove the lock. Now all we need to do is push it through our adapter and through the tow bar.
Then we can push the lock all the way in and turn the key, remove it, and push the cover on. Now we can move over to the tow bar. Now if we get ready to hook up our tow bar onto our base plate, we can then take our locks for the 1/2 inch, remove the dust cover and again, quarter turn of the key and we can remove the lock. These are designed to fit perfectly through our tow bar and through the base plate. We can insert our lock and we can take the end, push it all the way on and turn the key, which will lock it into place. Now we can put our dust cover on to keep any dirt and debris and moisture from getting in the lock cylinder.
We can go ahead and do the same thing on the other side. With all the locks in place, now we can hit the road and know that everything is secure. That will finish up our look at the Blue Ox Base Plate and Receiver Lock Kit with Four Locks, part number BX88177.

Have used these locks for approximately the past year and they have serviced us flawlessly. Very convenient and easy to use.

Quick service and good pricing along with super customer service
This is my second set of these locking tow bar pins. I change them out every 3 or 4 years, depending on mileage. My current set is beginning to show signs of wear at 15,000 miles, so better safe than sorry. I have not had any issues with the locks, just insert and turn the key, pull the lock off the pin. To replace the lock, turn the key as you place the lock on the pin until the lock seats, then rotate the key back until it will allow removal. Pull on the lock to be sure that it's properly seated - wouldn't want to loose it and have the pin work out!
Only issue that I've had is with the dust covers. Easy to loose. Going to try some glue on the new ones, but I doubt that it will stick to the chrome finish.

One year and no issues. A dab of silicone adhesive caulk on the dust cover retaining ring has kept them secure.
I purchased these locks to replace my snap ring retainers. I like the fact they are all keyed alike so I can keep a set of keys on the coach and in the car. These locks are a secure way to attach the tow bar to the baseplate and I no longer g-have to make sure I insert the snap ring in the correct position or having the snap ring catch my finger when it accidently closes.

Works great.
I purchased the locking pins in lieu of using the stock Clevis Pin/Snap Ring Retention Pin combination to secure the tow bar arms to the vehicle baseplate.
Prevents tampering and the posiblity of snap ring retention pin failure.

Locking pins are great and give you the added security over the conventional snap ring retention pins!
These pins work good and don't rust. I have used these and left them in my hitch outside for over a year now. I have had other locking pins and the key lock on them has always corroded in a matter of a few months. The only issue that I have had with them is the rubber retainer comes off the lock too easily. When opening the rubber cap, it is easy to pull the whole thing off and then you have to put it back on.
These locks give us peace of mind knowing that someone can't unhook our toad when we are stopped and away from our RV. We know this type of activity can occur because we had it happen to us a few years ago with a snowmobile trailer.

After using these locks for two seasons, we could not be happier. The locking mechanisms work smoothly and when they are locked you definitely have a peace of mind knowing they will stay that way until you unlock them. Definitely a 5 star product.
Very good quality. Heavy duty. All pins and keys are have TRIMAX stamped on them. Cylindrical key, not flat key.
I bought this Blue Ox product to get 3 same-keyed locks. If TRIMAX sells a matched set for less, buy that.
CAUTION: I separately bought a Blue Ox 4" long locking pin (also manufactured by TRIMAX) for my Class V hitch. It was NOT packaged with this same-keyed set, but had the same key! This tells me that there are disappointingly few key variations. A thief with a small collection of TRIMAX keys can steal my gear.
I bought this lock kit to go with my blue ox tow bar. Well worth the peace of mind both for storage and when towing. The locks are well made and the prices on etrailer were very reasonable.
Our experience with etrailer started with the customer service team. They were excellent in helping us with which products we should purchase for towing a jeep behind our Motorhome. The bar locks are still doing great after another year.
Second time I've ordered from etrailer.com and was completely satisfied. The product description was exactly like what I received and the free shipping was very fast. I definately will order from etrailer again. Etrailer has the best prices and sell quality items. The three piece lock set with one key is going to make it so much easier while attaching my vehicle to the motorhome. Some reviewers have complained about these locks and the rubber dust cap but no matter what some people buy they have to complain for some reason. These locks work great and etrailer deserves a five star rating.

I needed new tow pins for my Blue Ox tow bar. I shopped on line and contacted my dealer. But, etrailer.com had the best price by far. My order was filled promptly and arrived in just a few days. I bought these to use on my Curt Rambler tow bar and base plate. They are very nice looking and appear high quality. The only concern I had is the baseplate pins are longer than the cheaper Curt pins. I reached out to Greg @ Etrailer to see if the longer length was a problem. He got right back with the answer. The updated Blue Ox lock kit with the new key is a solid update and a welcomed change to the one it replaced. Highly recommend this purchase.
These are replacements of locks that I have had for many years. The only thing that I note is that this lock kit uses barrel keys and must be turned to lock. I preferred my previous set in which you simply pushed the lock onto the pin to lock it.
I recently lost control of my dinghy while driving up the 35 in San Antonio, due to failure of the lock on one of the arm pins. The lock was acting up for the last couple of months and I should've replaced it then but I didn't. Because of that, my truck was flailing around on the freeway behind my Motorhome, but thank god I was able to land with only a couple broken pieces of my tow bar set up. E-trailer had all of those parts in stock and I was back up 100% the next day.
