Recommendations For Flat Towing A 2012 Nissan Frontier
Question:
i have a 2012 nissan frontier extented cab... i see the holes in the truck so the tow bar will work fine... but not sure if i need the wiring harness or what... i see a plug up by where we mount the tow bar.. will the trailiers wiring harness just plug in there or do i need a harness to plug in there and that plugs into the trailer in order for the lights to work?

For your 2012 Nissan Frontier extended cab, we need to start with the baseplates for your tow bar. I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX1843 confirmed to fit your truck. I recommend using the Loctite Threadlocker # LT37420 for this installation. Then, we need a tow bar that is compatible and I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 6,500 lbs # BX7380. This tow bar comes with the safety cables you need. I recommend using the Blue Ox Base-Plate and Receiver Lock Kit - Qty 3 # BX88101 to secure your investment.
For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will allow you to use your factory wiring and connect into it while still protecting your factory electronics.
For your supplemental braking, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This braking system is a favorite with our installers because it is easy and extremely reliable. Once you set it up and adjust it, you can simply forget about it and it becomes a plug and play system.
The last thing you will need is a high-low adapter. I've linked an article to assist in choosing the right one for your application and I've also linked the page to our adapters for your convenience.
This will be all you need, but let me know if you have questions.
