Video Transcript for Review of Spectro Wiring - SWC501915-1

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port quick splice self stripping connector in the yellow color. This is for a quantity of one. Now this closed port quick splice self stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp, or strip. Provides an open channel on the front to attach to your existing wire and a closed channel in the back for the tap wire to go into. You can see it has this metal blade on it that's attached, to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection. And their appliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after your wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate this, how it connects, at the end of this video.

This is for a quantity of one connector. The gauge wire this will fit is 10 to 12 gauge wire size. Maximum power rating, 600 volts. And again we're going to demonstrate, so I happen to have, let's say this is our existing wiring. So what you'll do is just push this into the front for the existing wiring, and then you want to tap this wire into that existing wiring. You'll just put that in the back one and it's a closed port, because if you noticed it won't let the wire go through in the back.

You just push it in all the way and it'll keep it right there. And then what you'll want to do once you have your two wires in there, just take your pliers, put it onto that blade, push that blade all the way down. There you go.And then once you pushed it all the way down, that'll connect your two wires. And then you'll have this cover portion that you just flip down and it snaps into place to cover it, protect it. And there you've tapped a wire into your existing wires.

Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the closed port quick splice, self stripping connector in yellow for a quantity of one.

  • How to Wire up a Camper Shell on a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500
To wire the third brake light of your camper shell on your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 you will need to find the CHMSL circuit. This will be the circuit that will only carry voltage when the brakes are applied and would not blink with either blinker. This circuit is located behind the spare tire, slightly to the left. There will be a white wire with a brown/tan stripe that is capped and outside the harness. This will be the correct wire to use. Now to wire up a dome light you will need to find...

  • Best Wiring Options for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
You have a few options when it comes to 5th wheel wiring for your truck. Most trucks come with factory 7-way trailer connectors at the bumper. If your truck has a factory 7-way, then I recommend installing a 5th wheel wiring harness like the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel Harness, # 41157. In-bed harnesses provide a quick and easy connection point in the bed, so you don't have to modify the existing trailer harness to make it longer or use an extension. This harness has a 90-degree plug,...

  • Options to Power Lights in Trailer Without Being Connected to 7-Way on Truck
When it comes to running the lights in your trailer without having to hook to the 7-way on your truck, I recommend using some 10 gauge wire to add a car battery to your trailer for power. You'll just need a few supplies in addition to a battery; 10 gauge wire, # 10-2-1 (sold by the foot), 2 ring terminals like # 44-5356A, and a couple quick splice connectors, # SWC501915-1. Just find a spot on the trailer for a battery, splice into the 12 volt circuit on your 7-way with one of the wires...

  • Recommend Brake Controller To Use With Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Unit and 2007 GMC 3500HD
The item that you selected, Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part # 90195, will work for electric over hydraulic unit, like the Hydrastar. I would recommend using the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller as it has digital display and can troubleshoot problems. The Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510 and older model Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controllers are not designed to be used with electric over hydraulic brake systems. For installation of an aftermarket brake controller, you will...

  • Wiring Harness for 2003 Toyota Tacoma to Allow Installation of Hopkins Backup Camera HM50002
The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 is designed for use with a 7-way-equipped vehicle since that type of connector provides the reverse light signal to activate it when you're backing up. Since your Tacoma has only a 4-pole flat trailer connector (which does NOT include a reverse light signal) you'll need to add one. The Hopkins system uses a round U.S. Car connector format for installation. You will need to install Hopkins Universal Wiring Harness...

Yes, the Spectro junction box can be used in your tow vehicle for making wiring connections. This part has a heavy-duty weatherproof plastic housing and includes grommets and cable clamps. You will need to supply two nuts, washers and 1/4-inch bolts of the appropriate length to install the box on your vehicle. I have linked a video showing installation of this part on a trailer frame. It certainly may be that the wiring from the under dash brake controller port is not routed all the way to the trailer connector at the back of the motorhome. If there is a 7-way connector on the back of your coach you can try tracing the blue brake circuit wire forward from the connector; you may be able to find a point where it can be connected to the wiring from the front of the vehicle. You can also run a new brake output wire from the back of the P3 directly to the trailer connector...

The blue wire will connect to the reverse light circuit on the tow vehicle, but it will also send a signal to disengage the brake actuator on the trailer when you put your vehicle in reverse. So when you are in reverse, the trailer brakes will not be engaged. You would need a 7-way adapter like Adapter 7 Pole to 5 Pole Flat, part # A75TB. No, it will not because the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness item # 118311 is a 4-way connector and those don't power the back up lights on a trailer. The one you bought online is probably functioning correctly. The reverse lights on a trailer must receive power from the reverse lights on your C10.
