Build went great. Built custom axle. Drilled 4 bung holes, cleaned up the spindles, used dial indicator to make it true and mig welded it up. Welded new perches on axle tube, painted it, mounted and Done. Gone Fishing.

Good part. Appears to work well.

I purchased these hubs, spindles, wheels and tires for a machine that I'm building. Initially, I tried to source them locally, but nobody had all six items that I needed. So I turned to etrailer again, and was very well pleased. All the items are of very high quality and work together without any modification. And the price, including the (free) shipping from etrailer was less than any local vendor, and they were delivered in less than a week. etrailer comes through once again! Thank you, etrailer!

by:

Should do the job. One of the two had some surface rust on it in the bearing area. Nothing real bad just needs some scotchbrite

You are welcome to modify the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles, # TRU59FR or any other item as needed for your fabrication project.

  • Replacement Trailer Idler Hub With Inner Bearing 1.25" and Outer Bearing 0.75" Inner Diameters
The only hub we carry that will fit your spindle size is the Agricultural Hub # AH15450ECOMP, as most have changed over to the more common BT8 # TRU59FR and BTR # TRU44FR. The agricultural hub is only rated for speeds up to 20mph and uses a 4 on 5" bolt pattern. You can have your spindles replaced to one of the more common sizes but this is best done at a trailer manufacturer so they can true up the ends of the spindle to ensure it is welded on straight. Otherwise if you can give me dimesnions...

  • Will the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000 lb Axles Work With a 1" Spindle
Tom, the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K are going to work with BT8 spindles like # TRU59FR which have a diameter of 1 3/8" and an overall length of 8 1/4" so it's not going to work with your current spindles. Your best bet would be to replace the entire axle with one that has more common sized spindles because I'd highly doubt you're going to find anything that works with those spindles. If you let me know the capacity of your axles, the spring seat...

  • Which Trailer Hub and Bearings Fit Spindle # TRU59FR
For spindle # TRU59FR, you can use hub # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. This hub comes with the proper bearings # L44643 inner and outer. The Cap has an outer diameter of 1.986 outer diameter and Seal # 34823. The hub assembly is a 4 on 4 bolt pattern for 2,000 pound axles. You will want to make sure that the old bearings are stamped with L44643. If they have different numbers, let me know what they are and I can determine what the correct replacement hub is.

  • Determining if 2,000 lb Axle Needs 1-1/4 inch or 1-3/8 inch BT8 Spindle
With trailer axle components there isn't typically a way to know what you need before getting into the hub/spindle area. Basically you'll need to remove your old one first and determine if you need the 1-1/4 inch BT8 part # TRU94FR or the 1-3/8 inch # TRU59FR.

  • Axle Recommendation for a Converted Off-Road Trailer
If you are planning on purchasing a new trailer axle it will have a spindle already attached to it. Installing spindles is a very precise job that should only be done by a qualified fabricator with trailer fab experience. Since your planning on using the trailer for off-road purposes a better option might be the Timbren Axle-Less systems like the # ASR2KHDS03. This will give the trailer a 4 inch lift, is setup for wide off-road tires, will give better ground clearance than a standard axle,...

As far as removing your current spindle, you will need to grind/drill off the old one. One the old spindle is removed, I recommend the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU59FR (for a 1-3/8 diameter) or the # TRU94FR (for 1-1/4 diameter). The measurement of the diameter is the stub (innermost tube on the spindle). In order to get the correct size, I recommend measuring the stub of your old spindle once it is removed. I went ahead and attached videos of both of these spindles in order...

We do have spindles and hubs for 2,000 lb axles, but we first want to determine which spindle and hub will work best for you. The only spring you may come across while repacking the bearings would be from the brake assembly. I would check out the brake assembly and see if it looks like a spring is missing. There are also numerous photos and videos on the product page if you would like to look at the # AKEBRK-35-SA Electric Trailer Brake Kit.

This would be the closest option we have available. I can suggest a few replacement hubs that fit the 1 inch axle, however. If your wheels have a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern, you would need either # AKHD-545-2-1K or # AKIHUB-545-2-1K. If you have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, you would need # AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-1K. • Do You Carry A Trailer Hub For Mounting On a 3/4" Straight Spindle?
Personally, I do not recommend using a bearing reducer with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-1K as that just adds an additional item which can fail. Instead the best route would be to upgrade to the BT8 Spindle # TRU59FR which will also give you a more commonly found part which will allow you to more easily get parts if you ever have a roadside breakdown. Currently we do not carry any hubs which will fit on a 3/4" straight spindle.

  • How to Determine The Correct Replacement Trailer Hubs by Bearing Numbers or Spindle Size
The best way to determine which replacement hubs you need for your trailer would be to remove one of the hubs and retrieve the bearings. Anytime that a spindle is starting to take damage you will want to replace it as that will affect the performance of your bearings and seal.
