Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I have had this item installed for approximately one year on our 42 foot, 18,000 pound 5th wheel. It was easy to install and set up and has worked flawlessly ever since. We have put over 6,000 miles on the 5th wheel since the installation. I will definitely buy again if the need arises.

Its been another year and these parts are still functioning flawlessly.

My order arrived in a timely manner. I did not like the way the items were based for shipment. All 4 brake assemblies were in one box, making for a very heavy box. The trailer hubs and drum assemblies were packed 2 in a box, making foe a very heavy box. None of the items, brakes or drum assemblies, were boxed in separate boxes within their shipping boxes. This is why, I believe, one of the inner bearings was damaged in shipping, making it not usable. Please ship a replacement bearing right away. I have attached photos of the damaged bearing. Please let me know the shipping number on the replacement bearing.

For this order, the packaging could definitely be improved. I will share this feedback with our shipping department and have our customer service team have a replacement sent to you.

I ordered Dexter backing plate assembly and drum. Great prices! The drum came with races, bearings and grease seal. Everyone else that I checked with, races, bearings and the were extra and at higher price! I received all the items when expected. I would definitely recommend etrailer to anyone looking for great prices and customer service. Thank you etrailer

Wow! itโ€™s already a year?. So far so good. No problems with any of the parts I ordered..

by:

I received 3 boxes all of which had some sort of damaged or destroyed parts in it. All of the bearing kits are garbage, I will need replacements. The back plate and pad assemblies were ok, only two I had to installed the adjuster bolt back into and inspect for damage, but only received 2 of 4 nut and plug kits seen in pictures attached. Everything was improperly boxed, boxes are way too large for these components and hardware/bearing kits were packaged with very heavy components. Bearing kits should have been shipped separately in a small package. Bearing kit was also not in a proper bag, if not a ziploc at least tape the bag shut. I hope the drums are ok, I will have to grind on 2 of them just to allow the wheel to mate properly. I will have to measure all of the races and drum dimensions to ensure they are not warped or bent in any way. Extremely unhappy with this purchase. What a waste of components.

Perfect replacement for my rig.

by:

Good quality, good price, good delivery

by:

I bought these to use on a fairly heavy (about 12k #, loaded) 5th wheel. These were bought to replace ones previously purchased w/ 1/2" lugs. I didn't realize there was a difference until they were already installed.
Now everything is working beautifully, except I'm now in the middle of replacing the chinese-made wheel bearings that came with the replacements from Etrailer, the reason for 3 stars, vs. 5.
Not only is the origin questionable, but the bearings and cups were shipped loose in a bag with the rest of the hardware (lug nuts, etc.) Precision bearings must be individually wrapped, boxed, and never touched directly by human hands, to prevent corrosion, and contamination which lead to early failures. Sorry, but these things are only good for low-speeds, and short distances, such as farm equipment.

The hubs and drums are working well after a season of camping, which didnt see more than a couple hundred miles of travel.

by:

Product was shipped quickly and very well packed , absolutely no box damage for such a heavy item. The hubs look well made and came with all the hardware. Bearings are made in china but what isn't these days my advice is to purchase a bearing grease packing cone so you insure your bearings are fully packed . Everything fit perfectly .

by:

Looks like an exact replacement hub for dexter 7k axle
lost a brake shoe on a new 42 foot 2019 forest river fifth wheel, overheated the bearings and seal,
this has the same bearings as the original, yes, bearings are from china but so are the original hubs and bearings from dexter,
I bought 4 of these a few years ago to update our previous fifth wheel a 32 foot nuwa
ran them for over 8k miles with no problem

by:

I recently borrowed a trailer from a friend of mine and it had to have been infested with grease worms. Needless to say, burnt up a bearing and spit the hub off before I made it to load. I found the parts I needed on this website, but had to purchase seals and dust caps I didn't need along with a kit as well as the correct seal and dust cap for my trailer. I was also disappointed when the EZ LUBE dust cap I purchased did not come with the rubber access plug. I got it put back together, and with a little duct tape to cover the dust cap, the tractor will be moved tomorrow.

by:

Product arrived damaged. The bearings and grease caps are damaged. Retailer posted a credit due to the problem. Great company a fast reply on products.

by:

The product, Dexter brake drum assembly, was exactly as advertised and delivered as promised. I could not have asked for any better product quality or service.

by:

I made a big mistake and ordered the wrong hubs for my trailer. Called etrailer and got a return authorization and expedited the correct ones. Delivered on time and fit great.

Everyone at etrailer and the on line info was very helpful.

by:

Had some rust on outside bearing race but I think it cleaned up good enough that it won't be a problem. Otherwise very happy with transaction.

by:

You communicate the status of the order to us throughout the sales cycle and I like that. Thank you

by:

Order arrived ahead of time, everything was complete. Will definitely use Etrailer again.
