    • Also lets you mount a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other 2" hitch accessory
  • Provides either drop or rise for adequate ground clearance
  • Constructed of sturdy steel
    • Solid shank for suprerior strength and durability
  • Resists rust and corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 6"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 400 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs
  • Length: 14" overall
    • 3-7/8" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
    • 9-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to center of pin hole
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Simple to install and absolutely needed to keep the tow bar within 3" of the hitch height. Plus when I went over a steep driveway in my 30' Winnebago Vista, I was concerned that this may bottom out - but instead, there was a frame rail under the RV that scraped instead. This unit was well clear. If you find yourself in a situation where this could scrape the ground, it is easy just to put the brake on in the car and pull the release pin on the this unit. Then, reconnect later.

Works like a charm! I bought an entire toad tow package kit wiring, breaking system tow bar, base plates everything ! My ranger all the way to Mount Rushmore last year and everything worked great! The trailer support was excellent whilst I was installing everything! Multiple calls to tech-support got me through and made for a successful install. I would not hesitate to buy From them again!

by:

Roadmaster quality is very consistent. Drop ship from Roadmaster was fast.

by:

Created a nice level towing setup for my 2018 Chevrolet Colorado behind my 2023 Entegra Esteem Class C motorhome.

by:

I needed the Roadmaster high-low adapter to drop my tow point down so my tow bar was level between my Motorhome and my Chevy Colorado. It works as advertised and even with the weight of the truck pulling on the drop of the bar it is solid enough I feel very confident that I will be able to tow for many carefree miles.

by:

Works perfect for ensuring tow bar is l evel.

by:

400 pound TW. We carry two e-bikes on the back of our coach and needed to raise the bike rack. Strong and perfect fit.

by:

etrailer has great products that you can trust. I’ve purchased from them multiple times and have always been pleased with the experience.

by:

The 6" drop hitch was just what I needed to level my tow bar between my (Georgetown) RV and (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara) towed vehicle.

It is a very strong, solid piece. Just completed a round trip between 700 mile round-trip with no problems.

The run-through of the unit dimensions in your video really helped to ensure the unit was the right fit for my RV receiver and tow bar.

Solid chunk of metal. No problems. Need to keep areas that rub treated for rust, but thats expected.

by:

My motorhome was to high to tow my Jeep so I needed this hitch adapter to bring the tow bar inline with my vehicle.

I sold my vehicle and purchased a new jeep and no longer utilize the adapter. I purchased a new roadmaster tow bracket from u and so far its fine.

by:

Worked great to level the tow bar out between our lifted Jeep and the RV. Very stout and glad we went with heavier duty unit

by:

Just what you need if your 4 wheel drive pickup is too high. I use it to get my wheel chair ramp close enough to the ground to use.
Very well made.

Excellent, I use it for everything because my Dodge Rams receiver is 30 off the ground

Thanks for the feedback, but did want to let you know that this adapter is intended for flat towing a vehicle only. IF you are needing a significant drop ball mount you might consider the Gen-Y line of ballmounts. For example the # 325-GH-515 might be a good option since it does provide a 10 inch drop, and may still allow you to use your existing ball mount.

by:

The product works as described. There is one problem in compatibility with a Blue Ox tow bar. The pin holes in the receiver are pressed rather than drilled. This process decreases the inner receptacle size and it has to be increased by manually filing the inside of the tow bar receiver. Structurally well made.

by:

Exactly what we needed.

by:

Purchased for bike rack , I am handicapped and this adapter will lower it and make it easier to load my three wheeled bike This company is awesome to deal with Thank You

Please keep in mind that using this or any hitch adapter or extender will lower the towing and tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half.

Great product. Heavy duty, well-made. Works perfect for my custom hitch application.

Great product, functions as advertised

by:

I installed a TorkLift Eco Hitch on the front of my F250. It sits higher than most front hitches. I need this drop receiver to lower my motorcycle below my line of sight! VERY heavy duty!

by:

works great, it is the right drop for the toad car so it pulls level. I have seen some toads being pulled and the hitch receiver is to high so the front of the car is being pulled at an upward angle, which is not a good idea.

by:

I needed this high/low hitch receiver to bring the hitch up to level to pull my jeep behind my RV. It works excellent, very happy with it one year later!

by:

Very good, heavy construction. Pin hole for the MH reciever should be a couple inches farther back.

by:

I recently purchased the 6" hitch extension from e-trailer... which fit perfect thanks to the wonderful help I received from Debora H. Without her help and all the time she spent with me on the phone I would have purchased the wrong one...again. I appreciate all her help, she saved me from another frustrating purchase and return. The hitch extension she recommended fit perfect for my application and was less expensive than the one I was originally looking at. Thank you again for your help.

by:

Received the product in excellent time. It is just what we needed and were very pleased that we could get the drop hitch made by Roadmaster as it will match the tow bar that we have on out motorhome and tow vehicle.

by:

Very well built and finished. I'm using this hitch adapter to level my tow bar while flat towing my jeep. It works perfect.

by:

I bought this drop hitch because I carry a motorcycle sideways on a rack behind my SUV. The SUV sits high so pushing the motorcycle up the ramp is difficult and lowering that rack makes loading and unloading easier and safer. The SUV also has the spare tire on the rear door and this drop hitch moves the rack out about two inches giving me more room for the bike. The big thing about this drop hitch is it’s strength. My bike weighs 350 pounds this hitch is rated at 400 pounds but it can probably handle much more than the class III hitch itself.

by:

This high-low hutch adapter was exactly what I needed for The proper height to tow my dinghy/car. Very well-made & no worries about being able to handle the weight. My tow vehicle is a 2017 Ford F150.

  • Hitch Receiver Adapter With a 6" Rise For Tow Bars To Sit Level
Yes, the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6 can be flipped to raise the receiver 6" and allow your tow bar to be level. You would not be able to use the lower receiver tube with your tow bar on top. I recommend the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-6 for raising your tow bars. This will ensure that the additional receiver does not hang to low as it may catch on road debris or contact speed bumps depending on the height of your vehicle receiver. The Roadmaster Quiet...

  • Can Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter # RM-048-6 Be Used on Lifted Truck to Tow a Camper
The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, # RM-048-6, is to be used with tow bars only. This adapter should not be used with any type of trailer so this would not work for your set-up but I do have a solution, a weight distribution shank. Once your truck has been lifted you will want to determine the appropriate drop needed for your trailer. I have included an article that can assist with this. I have included a link to our weight distribution shanks. Just use the filters to find the right...

  • Does Hitch High-Low Adapter reduce both vehicle and hitch tongue weight?
When using a high-low adapter like # RM-048-6 with a cargo carrier, the hitch receiver tongue weight only is cut in half (reduced by 50%). For instance if your hitch is rated for 350 lbs tongue weight, then you would reduce that to 175 lbs and also subtract the weight of your cargo carrier. That would give you the carrying capacity of your combined components.

  • Option to Lower Hitch Height for Use with Bike Rack to Make Loading Easier
We have the Roadmaster High Low adapter part # RM-048-6 which would allow you to lower the overall hitch height by 6 inches. Only thing to keep in mind is that this cuts the capacity of the hitch it is used on by 50 percent.

I checked the online owner's manual for the 2005 Pontiac Vibe on the GM website and it shows that the front-wheel-drive with manual transaxle CAN be flat towed without need for a transmission lube pump and it can also be towed using a dolly like # RM-2050-1. However, the all-wheel-drive version cannot be flat towed, nor can it be towed with two wheels up on a tow dolly. • Recommendation for a Dual Purpose Ball Mount with a Rise for a Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier
What you can use is a dual receiver like # D210 which is designed for towing/cargo. This ball mount has a receiver with a 6 inch rise and a tongue weight capacity of 750 pounds. The receiver portion itself has a 350 lb capacity. You will need to make sure the hitch on your vehicle is rated for the load you want to carry. The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, # RM-048-6, and other similar adapters are designed for use with tow bars only, so I do not recommend using them for this application.

  • Trailer Hitch Riser For Motorcycle Carrier Behind a Ram 3500 Dually With Slide In Camper
I reached out to Curt on their Dual Hitch Extender # D-192 and they informed me that the extender was not designed to have that amount of weight only on the upper receiver. I recommend using the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-6 as it is rated for up to 400lbs and gives you a 6" rise. This will fit the Hitch Box Extension and Reducer # RP45292 that Reese confirmed would work with a Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 and 289lb motorcycle.

I believe I may have a solution to help with the sagging on your 2010 Honda Odyssey, however, the Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter # RM-048-6 you referenced was designed and intended to be used to tow a four wheeled vehicle with a towbar behind a motorhome. • Recommendation For An Adapter That Will Allow a 2003 Ford Expedition to Tow a Car Trailer Level
The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, part # RM-048-6, is rated to be used with tow bars for flat towing behind a motor home and not for weight carrying applications or trailer towing. The use of any adapter, including this one, will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. • Should a Tow Bar Sit Level Between the Towed Vehicle and the RV When Ready to Tow
Having your tow bar as level as possible is the best way to have it set up. Because of that you would want the 6 inch drop adapter. I have spoken to tow bar manufacturers and they say one of the key factors in how long a tow bar will last is how close to being level it was used. We recommend that the entire set up be no more than 3 inches above or below level. The 6 inch Roadmaster adapter # RM-048-6 will work well for you.

  • 2-Inch Ball Mount with 6-Inches of Drop for Towing Car Trailer
Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-6 is intended for use along with a Roadmaster tow bar like their BlackHawk 2 # RM-422 but is not rated for trailer towing, as you noted. Instead you'll want to use a ball mount with the same 6-inches of drop, such as 8K-rated aluminum ball mount # EA60 from Brophy. Be sure to use a hitch ball rated for the trailer's weight, such as 2-inch 7.5K ball # SC23-C. Please refer to the linked article and ball mount page.
