Does Hitch High-Low Adapter reduce both vehicle and hitch tongue weight?
Question:
When using a hitch high-low adapter to raise up a rear cargo carrier will this reduce both the vehicle and hitch tongue weight or just the tongue weight of the hitch? Im wanting to determine max load on hitch with the high-low adapter. Thank you!

Expert Reply:
When using a high-low adapter like # RM-048-6 with a cargo carrier, the hitch receiver tongue weight only is cut in half (reduced by 50%). For instance if your hitch is rated for 350 lbs tongue weight, then you would reduce that to 175 lbs and also subtract the weight of your cargo carrier. That would give you the carrying capacity of your combined components.
